Harold Augustus Murdered in Algiers, Louisiana, According to Recent Identification by Authorities

Slow Progress in One, of Two Wednesday Night Shootings in Louisiana News

Donald Pennington
After reports on the death of a 31-year-old man in Algiers, Louisiana, police have released the identification as that of Harold Augustus after a struggle with another man last Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

Police are still investigating the events around the attack on Augustus, itself. Officers are following up on any lead available, along with every other case on their work-load. Time, and diligence always wins, though. A dime is an easily dropped thing, sometimes.

According to sources for the report from nola.com, the attack which left Harold Augustus dead occurred in the parking lot of the Family Dollar in Algiers. Police reports reveal another, as yet unidentified man approached Augustus in a parking lot, a struggle ensued, and for whatever reason, murder seemed to be the answer. Motives are unknown, as of now.

In another case of a shooting, 29-year-old Aristotle Seals was shot sitting in the seat of his car. Thus far, neither local or state officials for Louisiana have any leads, motive, or other information on these recent attacks. Also unknown is whether the two shootings bore any relation upon each other. Might these have both been done by one shooter? Or, are they simply random, and un-related? Police, surely, are considering all possibilities, at this point.

Police are requesting assistance from the general public for any information leading to the arrest, and prosecution of the attackers in these killings. Anonymous tips are handled confidentially. Details, procedures, contact information, and all other questions can be answered at nola.com. All information obtained is handled with the strictest confidentiality.
