Harold's Chicken Opens in Uptown

I was eagerly awaiting the opening of Harold's Chicken, located at 1120 West Wilson in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. It opened on December 17, 2010, and although I didn't check it out until January 4, 2011, the "new restaurant" vibe and excitement was still going strong, once I arrived.

The place was crowded, and compliments about the food were flying. Although this location only offers carry-out service, I didn't mind, because I was planning on bringing the food back to the office anyway. The chicken and french fries were out of this world, and they even had slices of cake for dessert. I had my eye on a piece of the delectable-looking Red Velvet cake, but I took a pass this time.

For being so crowded, because I went at the peak of the lunchtime hours, the service was still pretty fast, and the staff was extremely nice and friendly. Next time I go, however, I think I'll call ahead, so that my food is ready when I get there. Although Harold's has been a Chicago favorite since 1950, this is the first time I've been to one. I will definitely be back for the hush puppies and my slice of that Red Velvet cake.
