I think the first question we have to ask ourselves is whether these new murders have any connection to the John Wakefield murders, or whether the killer is just trying to use the memory of John Wakefield to cover up their true motive. Who requested the old articles on John Wakefield from the paper?
Secondly, are we really convinced that the killer was John Wakefield or could he have simply been the fall guy? Could the Sheriff have been involved?
And lastly, are all of the events that are happening now related to each other, or could there be several killers? Even if the murders are related, it doesn't necessarily follow that there is only one killer.
So, assuming there is one killer, what is the motive? Some would argue that the motive is to either torture or kill Abby, while others see each kill as another attempt to stop the wedding. But, the killer isn't exactly leaving all of the bodies out to be discovered, and why kill Hunter Jennings, when he was after the same goal, and already leaving the island?
Just in case the gruesome murders weren't enough for you, we've added a fortune teller and the infamous death card. Did the spirits break the china or did the wonderfully played, ever so spooky, Madison break her grandmother's china? Maybe the spirits told her to? Even if the writers went so far as to possess this haunting little girl, she would have been a little too small to have committed the murders seven years ago. Who else had motive to break the china? Well there's always the wicked step-mother.
I have to say that the characters have been perfectly cast, from Harry Hamlin as the fun-loving Uncle Marty to C.J. Thomason as the sweet, heartbroken boyfriend left behind, not to mention Adam Campbell, who's naive and hapless character suggests his accent alone has won Chloe's heart.
There are still a few characters that we haven't gotten to know very well yet. Will we get to know them in upcoming episodes, or will they soon be among the deceased? Only time will tell.
