Harrah's Entertainment and Sumner Gaming and Resorts Announce a $500 Million Destination Casino Proposal for Sumner County, Kansas

When you think of gambling the last place you think of is Kansas. If Harrah's has it's way this will not be the case for very much longer. Harrah's, the largest casino franchise in the world, is expanding and this time it is to Sumner County Kansas.

Harrah's just submitted a proposal to the Sumner County Commission for consideration. They are proposing a 500 acres site that is conveniently located off of I-35 at Highway 53 in an unincorporated area of Belle Plaine Township in Sumner County.

The proposed location will have it all. It will be a one stop destination where according to Harrah's chairman of the board Charles Atwood, "guests can immerse themselves from dawn to dark without ever exhausting the resort's near-limitless range of offerings." He offers that, "With our extensive network into the world's most powerful brands -- Country Music Television (CMT), Toby Keith, Paula Deen, Butch Harmon, Bobby Weed and many more -- only Harrah's can deliver this unique destination resort for Kansas."

Harrah's Kansas will have a variety of amenities that can not be found anywhere else in Kansas. These amenities will drive tourism to Sumner County, Kansas.

Harrah's anticipated amenities will include a World Series of Poker Room and a Vegas Style Gaming floor. There will be a wide range of dining experiences for every budget. They are proudly boasting that their will be a Paula Deen Restaurant and a Toby Keith themed Bar and Grille. If you desire something a little less exotic they also plan on offering several fast food restaurants.

If you want a little bit of the wild Las Vegas Lifestyle in Kansas there will be plenty of opportunity as several high energy nightclubs and lounges are planned for the resort.

If golf is more of your thing a championship golf course designed by Bobby Weed in collaboration with Butch Harmon, which will feature a Butch Harmon School of Golf is in the works.

There is no need to ever leave Harrah's as there will be at least 275 hotel rooms connected to the casino. Thirty of these hotel rooms will be luxury suites and the complex will have five private pool villas. They would like to see guests so comfortable that they will never leave this vacation paradise.

Harrah's is the worlds largest provider of branded casino entertainment. They were carefully chosen by Sumner gaming for this project because of their solid reputation. Harrah's holds casinos on four continents under the Harrah's, Caesar's, and Horseshoe brand names. Since it's beginning seventy years ago in Reno, Nevada, it has grown consistently through the development of new properties and acquisitions.

Wow...that's a big project. We had a Harrah's in my old town, but it was a riverboat. Nothing like this will be.
