I have attended HACC since 2004 and will finish this fall with an Associate's degree in Business Studies. HACC has been excellent at helping me transfer credits from two other colleges (one out of state) into the Business program. I have sat down with a counselor every year to evaluate my credit needs and determine my goals for the semester.
HACC offers financial aid assistance, as well as scholarship programs. Their staff is very helpful when purchasing books for each semester, as well as offering general guidance and counseling with academic and life issues.
I have attended both regular setting classes at the Lancaster campus, as well as virtual classes. I have found that regular setting classes were an easier format for me to learn and required less studying. Virtual classes have given me the option to study when I am able, and to "attend class" at my own time. While I have had more flexibility with online classes, I have also had to study more intensely to keep up with the class curriculum.
At the Lancaster campus, where I attend, parking is often an issue, which is one of the reasons I also chose the online campus. It has allowed me greater flexibility and less travel time when attending online classes.
There are tutors available to help students through their studies, and an extensive library and study area located at each campus with ample hours. Students are able to work together in class, and through online forums with online classes to help them to succeed with their studies.
Harrisburg Area Community College is an excellent school for those looking to decrease tuition expenses while still working towards a four year degree. The school has an expanded program with many degrees, and are willing to work with several different colleges and universities to help one complete their diploma goals.
