If you haven't reserved your copy yet, you could ask the Louisville Free Public Library to hold a copy for you, but they currently have 496 holds already in place for the newest addition to the Harry Potter series. If you don't mind waiting and want to place a hold, you can visit their website at www.lfpl.org to make a request.
Louisville's library branches have many events planned to celebrate the release of the latest Harry Potter book. From artistic activities to costumed release parties, Louisville Harry Potter fans can certainly get in on the act.
The Middletown branch is having Snape's Potion Class on July 16 at 2:30 for ages 9 and up and a Care for Magical Creatures workshop that will allow participants to make their own magical creatures out of fluff and junk. Below are some of the other branches and activities available to celebrate Harry Potter in Louisville.
The main branch of the Louisville free public library has the following events listed to celebrate Harry Potter's return:
A Celebration of Harry Potter! Teen Tri-Wizard Tournament - Preliminary Round on Saturday, July 14, a at 2 pm. This event is for ages 12 - 19 and sign up is required.
Nimbus 2000 decorating party :On Tuesday, July 17th, there is an opportunity for all ages at 2 pm to decorate Nimbus 2000 brooms.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Release Party!On Friday, July 20th, which is the actual release date of the new Harry Potter book, the Louisville library main branch will have a costumed Harry Potter Book 7 Release Party from 9 pm to 1 am for all ages. The book will arrive at midnight. Children are encouraged to dress as their favorite character.
The Iroquois branch of the Louisville Free Public library will host one Harry Potter activity:
Teen Tri-Wizard Tournament- For ages 12 -19, a preliminary round will be held on Friday, July 12 at 6:30 pm.
The Jeffersontown branch of the Louisville free public library is having the following Harry Potter related events during July in anticipation of the latest book's release:
Tri-Wizard Competition for Teens: The Jeffersontown branch will hold their preliminary round on Wednesday, July 18 for ages 12 - 19 from 4:30 - 6:30. Sign up is required.
Abracadabra! All ages can enjoy this artistic wand making workshop on Thursday, July 5th at 2:30 pm.
Family Night for Muggles: This family oriented event allows families to come and make their own wizard hats!
Harry Potter Ends Tonight! Celebrate the newest book release at 2:30 pm at their Harry Potter Extravaganza party.
