Harry Potter fans get ready to party! New Hampshire residents can celebrate the release of the final (sniff, sniff) Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows with costumes, essay contests, and other wizardly activities.

Find a Harry Potter book release party near you. Wear your finest wizard costume and prepare for a magical night. Parents and muggles welcome, too.

July 20, 2007: Harry Potter's Midnight Magic

Wizards and muggles unite in this fundraiser for the historic Gorham Town Hall Theater.

The Harry Potter's Midnight Magic party begins with.....magic!
Enjoy the magic of Dave Anderson and the mystical sounds created by the Men In Black DJs. Relax and listen to portions from the first six books as they are read aloud to a captive audience.

Plus there will a trivia game, Quidditch, wizard chest, face painting, a scavenger hunt, and a costume contest.

Need more? There will be a raffle of a charcoal sketch of Harry Potter by illustrator, Mary GrandPre.

July 20, 2007: Hogwarts Harry Potter Party at Derry Library, New Hampshire

Derry Library transforms into Hogwarts. All young wizards will be sorted into the correct Hogwarts house with the sorting hat. Also join in the Hogwarts trivia contest.

Fill your wizard bellies with a magical butter beer and eat some chocolate frogs! Have your palm read and enter the costume contest.

At 12:01am enter Dumbledore's Study and a special guest will read the first chapter of this final HP book.

This event is for children six and up.

July 20, 2007: Harry Potter Party and Essay Contest, Concord, New Hampshire

First, the essay contest. Kids, what do you think about this question: "Is Severus Snape good or evil? Or does the answer -- can the answer -- lie somewhere in between?"

That is the theme for this HP essay contest. Write your essay before July 10, 2007. Share up to 500 words about what you really think of Professor Snape. Don't worry, there are no wrong answers in this class!

Winners will receive the grand honor of publication! The Concord insider will print their own version of The Daily Prophet, and your essay might be included. The winner alsoreceives a deluxe slip-case limited edition of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows,

Now about that party....this is a late party, kids, so you better be good and even take a nap first so your muggle parent will let you go! The HP party goes until midnight and you can enjoy wizardly foods and activities.
