Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been called a blood bath and that really does explain a good chunk of the book. There are several deaths in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Unfortunately, many of these deaths were the deaths of innocent characters. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has had more deaths than the previous six books combined. The following article discusses a few of the most important deaths and how they happened.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Hedwig

While Harry Potter is trying to escape his home on Privet Drive, his beloved Snowy Owl is hit and killed immediately by the Avada Kedavra curse.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Mad-Eye Moody

Mad-Eye Moody was also murdered while trying to help Harry escape Privet Drive.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Dobby the House Elf

This death was truly heartbreaking. As in previous books, Dobby returns in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to try and protect Harry. He helps Harry by taking some of his friends from Malfoy Manor to safety. He then returns for Harry. While Harry and Dobby are disapparating Bellatrix Lestrange throws a silver knife. Once Dobby and Harry arrive at their destination, Harry realizes that Dobby has been hit by the knife. Sadly, Dobby dies shortly afterwards.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Fred Weasley

During the Battle for Hogwarts, Fred Weasley is killed when part of Hogwarts is destroyed. Part of the castle lands on Fred and he is killed immediately.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Nymphadora Tonks

While it is uncertain how Nymphadora Tonks was killed, it did happen during the Battle for Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Remus Lupin

Remus Lupin was also killed during the Battle for Hogwarts. His death is also uncertain, but it was a truly unfortunate event because he and Nymphadora had just had a baby.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Severus Snape

One of the most horrible deaths in the entire book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was the death of Severus Snape. Throughout the book we are lead to believe that Snape is evil, but things change after he is killed by Voldemort. Voldemort kills him to increase the strength of the Elder Wand. After Snape is dead, Harry looks back on Voldemort's memories and we find that Snape did have good intentions.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Bellatrix Lestrange

Bellatrix Lestrange finally got the death that she so richly deserved. After trying to kill Ginny Weasley, Molly Weasley comes to the aid of her daughter and duels Bellatrix. Molly wins and Bellatrix is hit with a curse that lands right above her heart. She was killed instantly.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deaths: Lord Voldemort

Once all the horcruxes had been destroyed, Lord Voldemort would have been an easy kill. Still, Harry was not the one to kill him. Lord Voldemort actually killed himself. He tried to send the Avada Kedavra curse at Harry, who responded with the Expelliarmus spell. Voldemort's curse bounced off of Harry's spell and killed Voldemort immediately.

I think we are all forgetting the most important death of all. Colin Creevy perished during the battle of Hogwarts as well :'(

For the record, Tonks HATES being called Nymphadora

Remus and Tonks baby, Teddy, gets on the Hogwart's train at the very end of the book, along with the other children of Harry and Ginny, and Ron and Hermoine. It's not clear, but he probably lives with his grandmother, Tonks' mother. I'm guessing.

Oh, and Tonk's father Ted dies as well.

Yeah, Wormtail dies too. He strangles himself with his silver hand in the Malfoy's cellar.
Also, Harry doesn't die, he is in between life and death when Voldemort curses him,and that's how he can talk to Dumbledore. Dumbledore explains all this and because Harry is the final Horcrux and the curse Voldemort hit him with got rid of the part of Voldemort's soul in Harry.
The obviously at the end Voldemort dies because his own Avada Kedavra curse, which he fires at Harry, backfires and hits himself instead.
