Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Book Covers Released

Fans Are One Step Closer to the End

Amy Brantley
Harry Potter fans will tell you that one of the most exciting things about waiting for a Harry Potter book to be released is seeing what the cover will look like. On March 28th, Harry Potter fans were thrilled with the release of the new cover for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The cover is gorgeous and lives up to previous editions in the Harry Potter series. But, this isn't your average Harry Potter cover. The cover of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the first wrap around cover and according to the Vice President of Scholastic, David Saylor, the cover is best enjoyed when the book is fully opened:

"For the first time the cover is a wrap-around. On the back cover spidery hands are outstretched towards Harry. Only when the book is opened does one see a powerful image of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, his glowing red eyes peering out from his hood."

David Saylor isn't just the Vice President of Scholastic; he is also the Creative Director for the company as well. He has actually designed all of the Harry Potter book covers, so it comes as no surprise that he describes the cover of Harry Potter an the Deathly Hallows better than anyone else can:

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' features a dramatic sky of oranges and golds. It depicts 17-year-old Harry with arm outstretched, reaching upward. The structures around Harry show evident destruction and in the shadows behind him, we see outlines of other people"

The covers of the Harry Potter books have always been colorful and appealing to children, but in recent years there have also been different covers released for adult editions of the Harry Potter books. These covers aren't meant to colorful and appealing to children, instead these covers look more like an adult novel. Then there are the other covers from around the world. These covers are meant to be appealing to different cultures and at times look very different from the American versions.

The release of the new covers brings Harry Potter fans one step closer to the last Harry Potter book. It's a bittersweet moment that many Harry Potter fans claim they can't wait for. But, they also don't want the series to end. Whether Harry Potter fans are ready or not, the end is almost here and from the looks of the new cover, Harry Potter is going to put up one heck of fight.
