The seventh book of J K Rowling's mega hit Harry Potter series is still just over three months away from release and its pre-orders for the book are reaching dizzying heights.
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' has been sitting pretty at the top of many bestseller lists for a few months now. In fact ever since the publication date was announced. Today the huge book selling chain, Barnes & Noble announced that their pre-orders to the final Harry Potter book have smashed their record for the most ever pre-orders of a book. To date Barnes & Noble have already received a total of more than 500,000 pre-order requests for 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'.
Barnes & Noble isn't the only bookseller to have its pre-order record smashed. British book chain, Waterstone's, has said they have already received well over 100,000 pre-orders, more than the amount the got for the sixth Harry Potter book, 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' Waterstone's believes this figure will rise even more as the release date gets nearer.
Amazon is also breaking pre-order records. The mammoth online retailer says that they have more than 485,000 pre-orders so far for 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' for their U.S operation. A representative from Amazon UK said, "At one stage, pre-orders for the seventh Harry Potter book were outstripping the rest of the top 20 bestsellers combined by a ratio of five to one."
The potter fandom is buzzing with excitement and discussions about what may happen in the final book are lengthy. Many Harry Potter fans around the world fear for Harry's survival and for the survival of his to wizard best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
Harry Potter fans are also itching to know the true alliance of Severas Snape, the Hogwarts potions teacher as well as how Dumbledore makes his appearance in the final book. Rumour has it J K Rowling mentioned having a problem with Dumbledore during the writing of the book making fans even more curious.
Besides achieving this new pre-order record 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' is making more records. The U.S first print run of the book will be a massive 12 million copies, the largest ever first print run of a book. The build up to the release of the final Harry Potter book is expected to be the biggest launch of a book in history. The first print run copies will also all be printed on recycled paper another record achievement considering the number of books being printed. The Harry Potter series as a whole has made its author J K Rowling the first every billionaire author.
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' will be release at midnight around the world on July 21.
