On Friday, the Greenville County Library will have a Harry Potter Party at the Hughes Main Library. At the party, children will be divided into teams and will participate in different games and contests. The games include "Rita Skeeter's Rumors", "Quidditch Practice", "Trivia Challenge", "Muggle Studies" and "Pin the Tail on Dudders". Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite charater from the books.

Barnes and Noble will be hosting "Midnight Magic" parties Friday to celebrate the book's midnight release. The one located at 735 Haywood Rd. will have a Harry Potter standee for people to take pictures with. They will also have a craft segment where children can make their own frames and a costume contest. The party will start at 8 p.m. For more information, call (864) 458-9113.
The Barnes and Noble located at The Shops of Greenridge on Woodruff Road will also have a "Midnight Magic Party" starting at 7 p.m. They will also have a costume contest, as well as having a balloon magician and an owl impression contest. For information, call (864) 624-9197.
Books-A-Million on Laurens Road will also have a "Potter party" Friday night. The party, which will start around 7 p.m., will have crafts, face painting and food to eat. Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters. Once the clock hits 12:01 a.m. Saturday, employees will bring out copies of the book in which customers can buy and/or pick up. For those who would like to wait until early Saturday morning, Borders at Haywood Mall will have a "sunrise party". There will be contests and guessing games while customers pick up copies of the book. Prizes will be given out and the event lasts all day. For information call (864) 297-1025.
