Harry Potter Grows Up

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Review

A new school year has started at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Millions of fans have joined Harry Potter and other beloved characters for his sixth year at Hogwarts.

This is the year that Harry grows up. He faces mortality for the first time in his life. Yes, he has faced certain death before. His own two parents were killed by Voldemort, but this year Harry realizes that he has to face Voldemort eventually and things might not turn out in his favor.

J.K. Rowling stated, before the book was released that a major character would die and with this development tears will flow down thousands of faces and dampen hardback copies of the newest Potter book.

But it is the maturity of this book that makes it the best in the Potter series. Fans of Harry Potter have watched him grow up and finally are able to see him step into adulthood. It is bittersweet.
Readers have followed Harry story, starting with the night that Dumbledore put him on the step of the Dursleys'. The little baby boy that had defeated Voldemort. "The boy that lived." His life already struck with numerous tragedies, we want to protect him, to have that happy ending, but as is life things must get worse before they get better. This years is Harry's transition from boyhood to manhood. And it is the first time readers realize that there may not be a happy ending.

There is a lighter side to the newest Potter edition. Harry and his friends are around the ages of 16 and 17 and for the first time we see them fall in and out of love. The ever charming Weasley twins, Fred and George's joke shop is becoming a success.

The relationship between Dumbledore and Harry grows more in this book than any other. Dumbledore's job is to prepare Harry for his final battle with Voldemort. That is the only sure thing that Rowling gives away in this book is that there will be final battle between Harry and Voldemort.

This book answers a lot of question. The lines of good and evil become clearly drawn. It finally seems certain what side each character is on. But don't count on it, Rowling is a master of twists and turns and nothing in the world of magic is what it seems to be.

Rowling first introduced the readers to the world of magic and an eleven year old boy named Harry Potter in 1997. Potter mania is now a world-wide obsession. The books have sold over 270 million copies and inspired a series of blockbuster movies. Rowling estimated worth is set at $1 billion.
