Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Movie: Official Trailer and Film Information

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the sixth installment in the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling, will finally appear on theater screens on November 21^st, 2008. The new Harry Potter movie, directed by David Yates who also brilliantly directed the Order of the Phoenix, follows Harry's magical Hogwarts adventure as he prepares for battle with the advancing Voldemort. As Harry settles in his sixth year of study, aside from the dangers and magical war taking place outside the gates of the school, Harry discovers a mysterious potions book with shortcuts, spells, and tips that greatly increase Harry's potential. The book is signed by the "Half-Blood Prince," and Harry is determined to find out the identity of the Prince. The official movie trailer for the Harry Potter film was released on July 29^th, 2008, and was shown in theaters as one of the beginning previews of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The following plot summary was officially released by Warner Bros. on the Harry Potter Automatic News Aggregator:

"Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again."

J.K. Rowling, in her interview prior to the release of the sixth book in the Harry Potter series, admitted that the sixth installment is her "favorite" and may be the darkest book in the series.

The film stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore), and Alan Rickman (severus Snape) as the main roles. Filming of the new Harry Potter installment took palce in Scotland and New Zealand, according to "This is North Scotland." Due to the hype worldwide about the release of the movie and the success of the previous five movies, the Half Blood Prince is expected to surpass its previous movies in theater grossing.
