Harry Potter: My Hero

Lorraine Martinez
As the anticipation mounts higher and higher upon the impending arrival of not only the Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but also the last installment of the book series Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The movie comes out on July 9, 2007 in theaters and the book follows shortly after, to be released on July 21, 2007. People all over the world have started to reread the series in the hopes that they will remember every detail of what has happened so that they can start the last book not feeling as though they have been gone from Hogwarts and the wizarding world these past two years. I among these throngs of people have already begun book five and plan to be finishing up book six the day before The Deathly Hallows hits store shelves all over the world.

Harry and all his friends have courageously fought their way into my heart since I read the first book. They have been such a meaningful part of my life, my children and I have eagerly awaited every book and movie to come out so that we could get lost in the magic together. We were with Harry Potter as he saved the sorcerer's stone, destroyed Tom Riddle's diary, and saved Ginny Weasley and we rejoiced as he found his Godfather and finally had a family again. We sat still and flew through the pages as he triumphed in the Goblet and fire and cried when Cedric died. We were aghast as Voldemort came back and revealed some of his followers. In book five we all loved to hate Dolores Umbridge and cried again when Sirius is killed. In book six we rack out brains to try and find out who the half blood prince is and we waited with baited breath to see if Snape can truly be trusted. We suffer through the heart wrenching loss with all of Hogwarts when Dumbeldore is killed.

J.K. Rowling has not only written great children's books, but books that are able to bring families together as she weaves this enchanting spell over us. I dread the thought of no longer having another Harry Potter book to look forward. As I sit here and wait about as patiently as a child waits for Christmas morning for the book that will tell me if Harry and Ginny get back together, if Ron and Hermione finally realize they are destined to be together, why Snape killed Dumbeldore and if Harry will triumph over Voldermort before it cost him his life. I wonder will life ever be normal again when the story has finally been told beginning to end. Will my children and I ever find another hero that brings us all to the same level again, because as they grow older and older we grow farther apart from each other. Will there ever be another moment when we share the same excitement and joy over the same thing again, will we ever be as close when we close the cover to the last Harry Potter book. If I never get the chance I want to take this moment now to say thank you to Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling, thank you for allowing me into your world of magic and spells, courage and strength. Thank you for all the time you brought me and my children together to share in your adventure. I look forward to the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Great article. I too am re-reading all the books and am half way through book five. I can't wait to for the final book, but it will be sad as well cause its the last. I do feel like a kid a Christmas again. Hope you and your family enjoy the final book as much as I know I will
