Harry Potter: Top Five Supporting Characters

Key Characters and Predictions

Heidi Adams
In the Deathly Hallows, it is unknown how the final moments will play out. Here are the top five supporting characters and what roles I believed they will play in the final book.

5. Professor Snape- Although it is uncertain the motives and means of Professor Snape, from the last book "The Half Blood Prince" it is certain that Professor Snape will play a larger role in Book 7, "The Deathly Hallows." What is still undecided is whether he is working for Lord Voldemort, or if he was in fact acting upon Professor Dumbledore's direct orders. It came as a shock to millions when dear, beloved Professor Dumbledore died. I among many, felt the heart ache as the funeral was painted with vivid imagery and mourners across the globe came to pay their last respects to Dumbledore. But is Dumbledore really dead? Or is was his death faked to throw off Lord Voldemort? Professor Snape will be playing a key role in the final book and his secrets will be revealed. He will be a key character in the final moments of the Deathly Hallows. It is rumored that Proffessor Snape might even lay his life down to save Harry Potter.

4. Ron Weasley- Best friend to Harry Potter, and klutz, Ron Weasely will play a large role in the final book. Ron has often been portrayed as a bumbling wizard, but I feel his true strength will be realized in the final book. Ron may even give his life to save the life of Hermione, Ginny and Harry. There will be a true test of friendship either way. If Harry Potter lives or dies, Ron Weasley may be one of the two main characters to die in the final book of the Harry Potter series. J.K. Rowlings has admitted that two of the main characters die in the final book and also admitted to sobbing intensively at one point during her writing process and even drank a half bottle of champagne to ease her sorrow.

3. Hermione Granger- Hermione might be the best muggle born wizard of all time. As a supportive character, she has always played an important role and has even managed to save Harry and Ron from trouble and dire situations more than a couple of times. Her skills as a wizard are increasing during the progression of the books. A love relationship might possibly come full circle in the final installment, "The Deathly Hallows", between Ron and Hermione. The relationship between the three friends will be put to the test in the final book. What events may transpire and who might not live through the final chapters, is yet to be told. In the event of her death, Harry would be forced beyond the brink...pushing him to his limits, excelling him out of love and loyalty to Hermione.

2. Rubeus Hagrid- Beloved Hagrid is a very dear friend to Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The gargantuan size of the man is deceiving but his heart is true and it is my prediction that Hagrid might also die in the final book. What we haven't seen in the series of books is Hagrid's true abilities. Keeper of the grounds and trusted friend of Dumbledore, I believe there is more to the story with Hagrid. The true extent of his wizardy will be displayed in "The Deathly Hallows". His loyalty to Dumbledore and faith in Harry is endless. I believe that Hagrid will play a very serious role in the final book. Is Hagrid more than just a guardian of grounds of Hogwarts? Does he possess some ultimate powers and abilities? Could he be privy to the information surrounding Dumbledore's mysterious death? Hagrid may sacrifice himself in the end to avenge Dumbledore and for the love of the boy who lived.

1. Albus Dumbledore- In my opinion, Albus Dumbledore is NOT dead. Beloved gray haired, Professor Dumbledore is the number one supportive character of Harry Potter. It is my strong belief that he and Snape were working together in "The Half-Blood Prince" to deceive Lord Voldemort to set plans in motion for Harry's defeat of the dark wizard. Although it is unknown at this point why and how they were able to pull off the mysterious death, but then again...they are wizards. Dumbledore always pronounced his faith in Professor Snape. It is my belief that his faith did not come unfounded. There is and will be more to the story in "The Deathly Hallows." Snape could have killed Dumbledore at any point during the series of the books. There is a reason for the perfect timing. Professor Dumbledore needed to train Harry and to show him the clues to seeking out and destroying the horcruxes. The timing of Dumbledore's death was too perfect and that is why I believe he will return at a most unexpected moment in "The Deathly Hallows".
