Anyway, here goes what I've noticed while being entertained again by Rowlings wonderful way of writing her tales with her heart on her sleeve and her head in the air.
Does Harry Potter have a middle name? I haven't seen it if he does. But, what would it be if he did have one? Perhaps his fathers name, James, or his mothers
maiden name, Evans.
Is his first name legally Harold? I don't know. Harold James Potter sounds normal and muggleish, so does Harry Evans Potter.
Seeing Harry's broomstick immediately obey his "up" command makes the broom seem as though it is a pet instead of a vehicle. I'm surprised they didn't name their sticks. Especially the girls. Imagine Hermione naming hers something with the muggle influence of her folks or maybe Spew. Harry would call his Redemption because it brought him such a sense of accomplishment, fun, and satisfaction. Ron would call his "mini me" because after he became prefect he finally was gifted with something all his own and not handed down from the five brothers that came before him.
Why did Harry's parents have so much money? Where did it come from? Ministry jobs? Government workers? Did they have benefits, did they pay taxes, was the bank insured and was the money earning interest? How long does it take one knut to turn into a galleon?
When Harry saw Snapes memories in the pensieve, it bothered me that I started feeling sorry for Snape even though he has been so antagonistic to Harry. Whatever Snapes reasons, whether he is a spy for the good guys or still a dark arts lover, it was sad to read the description of him as a frightened child crying and as a lonely, social misfit teenager. Yet, he did call Lily a mudblood with the same disdain as Draco to Hermione. But, as with Hannibal Rising, the writer gives a depth to the character, a new shade of grey to consider.
Also, when Harry saw the memory of his father acting arrogant and impulsive it gave a humaness to the man everyone seemed to hero worship. They would tell Harry how wonderful James was and how like him Harry is. Harry suffered the bittersweet knowledge we have when we realize our parents are not perfect.
Harry performs his first illegal curse in book five, The Order of the Phoenix and it wasn't to protect anyone, he did it in a rage against LeStrange after she had fought Sirius and won. I wonder why he was not called to task for breaking wizard law? Otherwise known as the "unforgiveable curses" as taught them by Mad Eye Moody/Barty Crouch in book four, The Goblet of Fire. Why did he teach these curses to the students if he was a follower of Voldemort?
It will be interesting to see how Ms. Rowling wraps it all up. Will Harry find the horcruxes before hewhomustnotbenamed finds them or needs them? Will he find his way back to sweet and tough Ginny Weasley? Is there an explanation for Snapes actions other than face value? Will Ron and Hermione grow closer?
I can imagine all the world buying the new book and staying up reading for the entire night.
I wonder....will anyone open to the back and read the ending first? I know some reviewers and media will but for us who enjoy the read...how many will head straight for dessert?
