In an Ebay auction that just ended at 10 am on October 19, the original letter that 41 Democrat senators signed, received a final bid of $2,100,100.00. The winning bid was made by Betty Casey. The information on the Ebay auction stated that the proceeds would benefit the Marine-Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation. Limbaugh has promised to match the highest bid.

The web site for the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation states, "Since 1995, the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation has distributed scholarship assistance valued over $25,000,000.00". The website also has a list of 11 organizations and states thee Foundation has primarily awarded scholarships to children whose parents are in the organizations. The organizations listed include the United States Marine Corps, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Secret Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration and several other United States Federal organizations. With the additional funds of this auction, the foundation should be able to award a significant additional number of scholarships. The information on the Ebay auction site has this to say about the foundation, "The Foundation was formed in February 1995, by former Marines and law enforcement personnel who strongly believe that our nation's most precious resource is its youth".

In a statement on Google News on October 18, James Kallstrom, Chairman of the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation had this to say: "We
are blessed with many generous donors; at the top of that list is Rush Limbaugh! Rush has in a very quiet way, donated many millions of
dollars personally and he has encouraged his listeners to do the same. He has been personally responsible for a substantial amount of what the
Foundation has been able to do; from the educational scholarships, to helping the seriously wounded to funding travel of families to visit
their wounded love ones in Military Hospitals around the Country".

The letter that was auctioned was signed by 41 Democrat senators and was their response to words that Rush Limbaugh used in his radio broadcast. In speaking to a caller, Limbaugh used the words "phony soldiers". Limbaugh claims he was talking about Jesse Macbeth who had been in recent news. Yahoo News has this to say about the incident, "Less than two minutes after uttering the words "phony soldiers," Limbaugh elaborated on the subject, explaining exactly what he meant by the term. He named one Jesse Macbeth as an example of a phony soldier". According to a google news story, Jesse Macbeth was sentenced to 5 months in prison for lying about his war veteran status.

The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation has a seal from the Best America Independent Charities of America and is listed on their website.

Excellent article. It was great to see Rush take Reid's attempt at smearing him and turn it into a positive by benefitting a most worthy cause. Great read!

Very, very good!!! -- And now Harry Reid is trying to take credit for placing the letter on E-Bay. Did any of you hear his clip from the Senate floor yesterday when he was referring to "We" when talking about how much money had been raised for such a good cause? I wonder if he matched the $2,100,100 bid like Rush did?
