St. Patrick's Day is one of the biggest celebrations in the United States; you don't have to be Irish to wear your green with pride during this fun family festival. The biggest St. Patrick's Day celebration in Hartford is the annual parade. For many years downtown Hartford has been host to a large St. Patrick's Day parade. It is normally held on the Saturday or Sunday prior to St. Patrick's Day if the holiday falls on a weekday. This way the entire family can enjoy the parade. The Hartford St. Patrick's Day parade usually starts at 11am. The best way to get the current years date and time is to check your local newspaper in the weeks leading up to St. Patrick's Day.

This annual Hartford area St. Patrick's Day celebration begins by the State Capitol on Capitol Avenue. It then proceeds left down Main Street, left again onto Asylum Street and then left onto Ford Street. The Hartford St. Patrick's Day parade ends its route at Memorial Arch. Two worth checking out are The Half Door, probably Hartford's best Irish bar and the Vaughan's Public House another great bar with an Irish atmosphere. Both Irish pubs serve Guinness and traditional Irish food.
