The Second Annual Goose Gala was held in Hartsville, Tennessee, on Saturday, September 15. The night's festivities included a silent auction, entertainment provided by a live band, and a delicious meal. The event took place at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Ray Miller and tickets could be purchased in advance at the Chamber of Commerce or any of the local banks.

Guests arrived to the delightful evening by car, truck and boat and were delighted to join the cocktail hour by the pool to socialize with friends and neighbors while they enjoyed their choice of wine or beer and hors d'oeuvres as the valet attendants parked their vehicles. During the cocktail hour they were encouraged to browse the selection of Silent Auction Items available and place their bids, or to purchase a brick from the Downtown Hartsville Revitalization Committee. Many of the guests found something to pique their interest from the Silent Auction items, and many conversations were started and sustained by the unique offerings found there.

As the cocktail hour wound down, the guests began making their way to their reserved tables under the snow-white tents for their meal. Guests were served their salads and breads as they were seated and offered the opportunity to choose from chicken cacciatore or prime rib for their entrée. The serving staff did a wonderful job in making sure that the entrees were delivered in a timely fashion to all of the evenings guests, and offered smiles and witty banter as they carried food and drinks to and from the tables, and gathered their guests dessert selections. Dessert consisted of a fabulous chocolate cake, or a creamy cheesecake with raspberry. All of the guests seemed to have a wonderful time, sharing the delightful meal with the others at their table.

As the guests were finishing their meal, the band, the Bluegrassholes began playing. They played a wide variety of music for the crowd to enjoy. Some couples took to the dance floor, while other guests simply mingled and enjoyed their night under the stars with their friends and coworkers enjoying the various wines and beer offered at the open bars.

All good things must end at some point, and this lovely evening did as well. The Silent Auction winners were notified and picked up their merchandise as people slowly began to exit. Overall the evening was a huge success, and it appears that the Goose Gala is quickly becoming a tradition for anyone in Trousdale County, Tennessee, who enjoys a night of fancy dress and fine dining under the stars. So, if you are going to be in the area next year, be sure and find out when the Goose Gala will be, you will not be disappointed.
