Harvey Weinstein Sucker Punches Clinton Campaign

Amy Cox
A sucker punch just nailed Hilary Clinton's campaign. The sucker punch had a name, being Harvey Weinstein. In a true testament of Hilary Clinton's campaign, yet another one of her supporters is hurting her instead of helping her.

Harvey Weinstein started off with good intentions. He proposed an idea for a re-vote in both Michigan and Florida. The proposal consisted of Weinstein and other fundraisers getting together to raise the money for a re-vote in both states. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wasn't going for it.

That's when things got ugly. Weinstein threatened Pelosi. Allegations have been made that he said that if she did not support his proposal, he would slow down the cash flow going to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Like most of the people involved in Clinton's campaign, he took things a step too far.

The word "re-vote" has resonated through the Clinton campaign since she got behind in the polls and could not use the votes in Florida and Michigan to help her. However, those votes were not taken away after the fact. Both states, and the candidates, were aware that Florida and Michigan had lost their right to seat their delegates. They chose to move their primaries up to be more competitive, and forfeited their right to seat their delegates. It only became an issue when the race got close.

As nice as it would be to be able to count every vote in the campaign, rules are rules. Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean cannot back down from the stated rules in the contest. As unfortunate as it might be for Hilary Clinton, Democratic leaders cannot reverse previous decisions based on the state of the election. What kind of a precedent would that set?

Also, to be completely honest, a re-vote in Florida and Michigan would be a waste of money. Even if those two states were allowed to cast their ballots once again, Clinton would still be down too far in delegates to catch up. It is mathematically impossible for her to win. By refusing to recognize that, she is tearing apart the Democratic Party even more.

The worst part of all of this is, though, that another Clinton supporter has made it into the limelight for less than positive reasons. It appears that Clinton supporters are going crazy in an attempt to get her elected. Rules don't matter. Nothing matters except for getting Clinton elected.

Is this the way we want this election to play out? Do we really want to look back on 2008 and say that was the year we cheated someone out of their right to run for President? Worse yet, do we, as a country, want to be responsible for disenfranchising the African American voters from the Democratic Party? That is what will happen if we tell them their votes don't count. Forget about Michigan and Florida. Remember the droves of African Americans who have stepped out to show their support for Barack Obama. Before a re-vote is made, before super delegates wrongfully decide an election, go door to door to every African American supporter and tell them that we are stepping back in time. Tell them that you're sorry, but the white people cheated the system and got one of their own elected. Then tell them that discrimination no longer occurs in this country.

We are at a point where this election needs to come to a close. People are taking things personally. Politicians will lie, cheat and steal to get what they want, and it's time that we stood up and said enough. Enough of manipulating the system, enough of throwing the kitchen sink at our opponents, enough of lies and innuendos regarding our opponents, and enough of the hypocrisy that rules our nation. We can change things. Don't leave it up to Clinton; don't leave it up to Obama. We need to band together and allow our voices to be heard. We need to exercise common sense and principled thinking. We need to think about what is really best for the country. Is it best for this race to stagger to a blurred finish line? Is a revote what is best for the country? Are threats to get what we want in the best interest of the country?

The time has come for us to come together and finally do what is in the best interest for all of us. Not the white American, or the black American, or the woman, or the man, but us all. We are a society, not individuals, and we need to stop being selfish and understand certain things about life. We will not always get what we want. Sacrifice is necessary for progress. And most of all, we are capable of great things if we work together.

Vote for McCain?? A guy who can't or won't remember what he said from one day to the next, who will keep our country in this war or some other for years on end? Yeah, that would be called insane.

    Own Medicine,
I am afraid you are deluded. Pelosi and Dean hardly encouraged Florida & Michigan to break the laws to undermine Hillary. NO, those states decided to BREAK the RULES of the DNC and were told IF they did so they would have their delegates STRIPPED from the Primary. Both states (FL & Michigan) decided to break the rules and accepted the punishment of no delegates. THE STATES DECIDED TO STRIP THEIR OWN DELEGATES, to disenfranchise their own voters; YES, it was THEIR doing! As a matter of fact, ALL of the Democratic canidates AGREED to this and signed a document to that effect. So please, it was the states work, not Pelosi nor Dean and most certainly NOT Obama as so many Hillary supporters are now claiming. It is disingenuous at best, deceitful at worst.

Pelosi and Dean are getting a taste of their own medicine that is all, having encouraged Florida and Michigan to break the laws so that Hillary can be undermined.

Considering the amount of technology we have now, I can't understand why we can just go to the polls and let our votes count. I don't even think we need delegates anymore. What purpose do they serve? Also, why in the world do we have super delegates.
    Good article.

What Weinstein (and others affiliated with Mistress Hillary) do simply shines the light onto their day by day tactics; it's called being a bully. The Clinton's have long been known to threaten and push around those whom do not do as they wish, but this campaign seems to have turned up the volume of their screams.

The idea that Harvey Weinstein is yet another one of these bullies is not a new concept as he has been known to push others around, but this new attempt of trying to hijack the elections by threatening the Speaker of the House has not only hit a new low, but has sounded the alarm of what the Clinton's and their minions plan on doing IF they get into power once again.

Harvey Weinstein is not only a wretched bully, but the concept of threatening the very leaders in government who don't bow to your every wish needs to be seen as clearly as it was meant. Shame belongs to Harvey Weinstein and I certainly hopes he hears this one loudly and often!

I have the solution to all this Democratic Party back-stabbing. It called voting for McCain.
