The Democratic Party use to be a party that was popular amongst minority voters. They felt that it gave them a voice both locally and nationally. Most of them cannot give you a legitimate reason why they affiliate themselves with the Democratic Party other than their mothers and fathers were Democrats. They had been conditioned to believe that Democrats were for the poor while Republicans were for the wealthy. The Democratic Party capitalized on this type of loyalty. Recently, Democrats seem to be less concerned about appealing to minority voters. Instead they just assume that minority voters will support them just for the sake of them being "yellow dog" Democrats. This selfish paved the way for a third party to be created. If people are disgusted with both Democrats and Republicans it makes it easier for them to sway to a third party. There is evidence of this by the performance of the current presidential administration, which clearly shows that the Democratic Party is in a state of disarray. It has absolutely no unity whatsoever! Minority voters that feel like they are not appreciated they will surely take their support elsewhere. I was once a loyal Democrat in my younger years. I will even go as far to say that I too was a "yellow dog." Regardless of a candidate's agenda as long as he/she was a Democrat they had my support. As I got older I began to look beyond partisan politics. I now stand behind any candidate that I believe is capable of getting the job done.
The Democratic Party must get its act together. Whether people accept it or not, minority voters make a difference in the United State's political process. Minority voters' input is very valuable. The Democratic Party should no longer take minority voters for granted because the same arrogance that it has displayed may cost it the highest political office in 2012.
