Hash Bash and the Monroe Street Fair Coming April 2nd 2011

Hash Bash has been celebrated every year since April 1st 1972. It was a celebration in honor of John Sinclair. Sinclair was arrested for two joints and his case was thrown out by the Michigan Supreme Court which led to a period of time when the marijuana laws were not valid. Each year the Hash Bash has been held as a peaceful demonstration.

Some rules need to be explained for new visitors. Do not pass joints, do not smoke on University Property, and take the time to understand the laws and rules because undercover cops will be patrolling and will send in officers in full gear if they see you breaking any laws. Know the law = no problems.

The Hash Bash and Monroe Street Fair are a great event which provides a romantic day to spend with that special someone. You can tour the shops, see the many artistic displays, and try some of the best food on Main Street and the side streets. While Hash Bash is considered an adult event if you bring your child there are many different places they can play and window shop; if you're lucky you will find a fairy door so remember to have some candy in your pocket because leaving a piece of candy at fairy's door will bring good luck.

Ann Arbor, MI is one of the most liberal cities in Michigan. There is culture, politics, arts, and entertainment. Even if you do not make it to this festival Ann Arbor is a place that can be enjoyed year round.
