Hassle Me - the Perfect Site for Folks Who Need a Little Nagging
Get Email Reminders to Call Your Mom, Finish that Project, or Feed the Fish!
I mean, in our busy world, who couldn't use a reminder to hit the treadmill or call their grandmother every now and then? Well, now we have a great site that will do just that. Simply go to HassleMe.co.uk and enter your email, what you want to be hassled about and how often you want them to hassle you. Then, sit back and relax with your new-found peace of mind since now you don't have to keep reminding yourself about every little mundane task and project.
A confirmation email is sent once you've signed up and you won't receive any hassles until you have clicked on the link in the email to confirm. So, don't get any bright ideas about sending unwanted hassles to your evil ex, she or he would have to agree to being hassled, so really, what's the fun in that?
This is a great idea for the usual things, such as going to the gym or visiting your folks, but it's also perfect for all those things you want to do and never quite get around to. You know what I'm talking about...that Spanish class you keep forgetting to sign up for...the yoga studio you keep meaning to check out...the novel you need to get started...and all that volunteering you promise yourself you are going to start but never quite get around to. HassleMe is the perfect solution and will replace all those little scraps of paper you've been scribbling things down on and then losing for months at a time.
You can even put in more than one email address for the same hassle, so you and your brother can both get reminders to call your mom, or your kids away at college can get regular reminders to eat something other than pizza and ramen, or everyone in your office can get reminders about a project you are working on together. You can even just sent folks a reminder to smile.
HassleMe will keep you on your toes by sending the emails at unpredictable intervals, since you know it's too easy to ignore and delete the same email you get over an over again on a daily basis. With HassleMe, you choose a rough number of days for the interval between emails and then they will take it from there.
They've even got some new and improved features coming up. It won't be long before you can choose your hassle intervals in hours, weeks or even months (rather than just days) and you will soon have the option to be hassled over IM as well.
In case you are wondering just who these do-gooders are, Hassle Me is part of a network of sites based in the UK that also includes, PledgeBank.com and mySociety.org. mySociety.org is all about improving lives through the Internet and building community, while PledgeBank.com is an international project focused on helping people become more civically active by pledging to take specific actions - such as planting trees or donating money to charitable causes. PledgeBank is all about peer pressure, but in a good way. Folks sign up on the site and say things like, "I will plant 10 trees, but only if 5 other people will also pledge to plant 10 trees." It's a great idea for increasingly Internet-focused world and allows people to get involved in their community from the comfort of their own home.

This sounds like a cool site. I had a free email service like this to remind me about relative's birthdays and it worked like a charm, though it would have been even better if the website had gone out and purchased a card for them. So hard to find good help these days : )
I find sites like this to be interesting. I never use them as intended though. I usually end up reminding myself of silly quotes from old movies or something. Productivity be damned!
