Hate Retorted

By a deadly comment in the sun
A heart is painfully bruised
A work of hate is begun
Feelings hurt & used

So lead a bleeding trail
Until you fall far short
Cutting & ignoring detail
Responding with harsh retort

Pick up all the parts around
Too many comments made
A shattering heart, deadly sound
But all the rules have been played

Sew up the rift with a thread of gold
Wipe the bloody path
Forgive & forget the lies that were told
There can be clearing of the aftermath

As the sun sets the anger is cleared
The bruises will surely heal
Deadly hatred no longer feared
Feelings of love & acceptance real

Love clears hate
Makes heart smile
Cleaning the slate
For a while
Darkness strewn asunder
Light creates anew
Those around wonder
What changed you

Amidst the calling light around
Beneath the halo of trust
There is a tender friendship unbound
Gentleness is, of life, a must
You'll remember the new lesson found
As after all--all else is dust.
