Hathaway to Co-Host 83rd Academy Awards

Up and comer, Anne Hathaway is certainly coming into her own. With a nod from the powers that be, Hathaway is closing 2010 with an Oscar nomination for 'Love and Other Drugs' and will be co-hosting the 83rd Academy Awards with James Franco.

Hathaway became well known after her starring role in the 'Princess Diaries' alongside acting alum, Julie Andrews. In the film, Hathaway plays a misfit high school girl who finds out she is actually royalty; Andrews plays her grandmother, the Queen. In trying to break away from the family friendly persona she created in the break out role, Hathaway started taking on more serious roles and appeared topless in 'Havoc' and 'Brokeback Mountain'; both released in 2005.

Garry Marshall, director of the 'Princess Diaries', once described Hathaway as "a combination Julia Roberts , Audrey Hepburn and Judy Garland ." While I agree with Marshall, Hathaway has the class and presence of all three actresses; I also feel that her ability to play any role, from comedic to dramatic, also reminds me of Meg Ryan and Goldie Hawn. Hathaway combines her unique beauty with the underlying sensuousness of the girl next door.

Hathaway, who just turned 28 a few weeks ago, is a bit nervous about her upcoming co-hosting spot. The Academy Awards has become more than an award show in recent years, opting for a more entertaining production. In 2008, Hathaway performed a duet with host Hugh Jackman at the Academy Awards. No word as to if Hathaway will be singing again, but she certainly as the talent for it.

Hathaway has an amazing aptitude for comedy and will be well prepared in keeping her audience captivated. She showcases her comedic abilities not only in the 'Princess Diaries', but also in films such as 'The Devil Wears Prada' and 'Bride Wars'. The upcoming Academy Awards will play perfect host for her entertaining gifts.

I look forward to seeing Hathaway's talents explored. Though I love her comedic styling and can't wait to see her newest role as co-host of the Academy Awards in February 2011.
