Hatred

Rose Oscura
Can you love without hate? Is it possible? Can you possibly know, exactly, what it means to hate unless you know, first, what it means to love? But, when you think of it that way, how can one learn how to love OR hate, if one must come first? So, maybe humans are learned and raised to know how to hate, even without having felt the extreme on the other end?

Or, maybe, we don't know how to love or hate, truly, until we've felt the opposite. Maybe we're born with the ability for the basic, but as one develops, the other becomes more powerful as well.

In the same thought process, however, can one really learn to appreciate life unless they've been close to death? Many people will agree that the answer is "no". However, is that really the true answer? Can you appreciate every gorgeous flower that grows without having been on the verge of never being able to see them again?

Can you honestly, or truly, appreciate what a friend does or how close you are to a friend without having lost their friendship? Because of this, maybe more friendships could be saved if both people understood what, exactly, they'd lose if the friendship was severed. However, it's not in the human's way to truly appreciate anything, no matter how much that "thing" may help them in their lives.

Humans are born and raised to get ahead in life, no matter who in hurts in the process. If you can find someone who goes against that, it's rare, but however, most are not in that way. A majority of people will be happy to destroy another's chances at success if they, themselves, can become successful. It isn't bad, being as that's how our society was structured. An example of that is an open job promotion in a company. It's only one spot, but multiple people are vying for that spot. When odds go to those extremes, it is amazing exactly how far people will go. It can bring out the best in people, but, unfortunately, it usually brings out the worst.

Maybe humans weren't designed to think on a philosophical level. If God did exist right now, he'd be hitting humans on the top of their heads with a rolled-up newspaper going "Behave!". Maybe he doesn't wish for us to question where we are, only to accept and love the surroundings where in. However, that's a question that may be never answered.
