Haunted

g
She found him
In a large abandoned house
With a skeleton of a roof.
His eyes of dark green ice,
His hands of massive strength.
They spent their afternoons
Lying on the porch;
She traced her finger
Along the broken concrete
While they shared their souls,
Their dreams...

Inside,
They taped their
Vague and scattered
Drawings and letters
To the ribbed walls.
The giant stairs
Dark mahogany
Invited her to climb silently
Into the shadows.
Hardly a murmur
The rest of the
Black
Night.

When he left at a blistering midnight,
She remained alone
In an icy bed,
Alone with her thoughts,
Alone with the house.

She woke alone,
Singing nothing,
Picked up her scattered things
And walked home,
Between rows of frogs
With green throats,
Singing nothing,
Singing
Nothing.
