Haunted Houses in San Pedro

The Eeriest, the Spookiest and Even the Deadliest of Houses

Erinn Soule
San Pedro, California, one of the richest in culture, history and legends. I was born and raised here in San Pedro and have trailed the many roads to these exquisite homes that have more than just charm, they are charmed. I myself lived in a home here that we knew was definitely haunted and how it didn't make it onto any of these specialty shows is beyond me.

One of the most talked about and also the most famous of homes is the house that everyone is calling, "A San Pedro Haunting" or also known as the Jackie Hernandez House. It was first discovered by Barry Taff, an Investigator who was called to come and observe the paranormal happenings in this home. This particular case made it right into the hands of local media and soon gained it's "haunting momentum".

The investigators that were called to work this case had been waiting for a story like this one to come along after a long dry spell of "haunted Houses". Strange smells, unexplained sounds, moving and flying objects, as well as a strange dripping substance coming from her walls, ceilings and cabinets had everyone involved eager to get in there and start documenting these unexplainable phenomena's.

There had been reports of a "glowing cloud" that tried to suffocate Jackie Hernandez, the woman who owned this home. Jackie was no stranger to emotional problems, but with living in a home like this I think it may have been understandable. However, it did take a bit of convincing to Authorities that all this was actually a ghost or supernatural being rather than an actual person or a figment of her imagination.

The events in that home started to get worse and the entity seemed as though it was becoming stronger and stronger. At times it was told that this "ghost" or "entity" would start to follow Jackie from room to room. It seemed that anyone who might be perceived as threat to Jackie's relationship with Barry ended up on the end of a violent attack by the "ghosts" which led people to think Jackie was doing this herself. There had been reports that she was becoming more and more infatuated with Barry Taff.

However, this particular house continued to be haunted long after Jackie Hernandez moved out. New tenants would report inhuman sounds and sightings, and one family even managed to capture it on a recording, which was later aired on television. According to the new owners, no single tenants stayed there for longer than 6 months. Television shows, News Media and even a few "ghost-buster's" flocked this home daily in an attempt to be the one to capture the San Pedro Haunting.

The home is still standing to this day and is a great tourist attraction. You can visit this home along with many others in the area by doing a google search for Haunted Homes in San Pedro, CA. You can also watch the video that was aired on the Bravo Channel in 2007 on You Tube for an exciting overview of this home.

    Hello Jackie,

I live in an apartment that was build a little over 10 years ago. The former tenent of this apartment took pictures where strange orbs appeared, with no explanation. I have felt the presence of evil around me but I feel if there is a supernatural being, we can co-exist. I have done research and have found nothing for this address. I wonder if anyone can help me to see if there is something to these photos, and the weird feeling I have. By the way, I also have a cat that howls at something during the night. Please help! Bat Boy Spotted in San Pedro

A creature described by onlookers as half bat, half human was spotted running near the 110 off ramp at Gaffey Street, yesterday at approximately 3:40 P.M. A source reports that the creature seemed erratic and angry, and appeared to be singing with a British accent. A student from Mary Star of the Sea High School snapped a photo of the creature while walking to a 7-Eleven. "It seemed frightened and confused." She stated. The half-naked creature disappeared into the brush near Leland Park, eluding authorities.

Experts believe that this may be the same creature that was reported on back in 1992 during an incident that occurred in Hope Falls, Virginia. During that incident, a group of spelunkers discovered a young boy with fangs and pointed ears in a cave.

Though no records exist, it is thought that the "bat-boy" was ostracized from the community when cows began to die mysteriously. The man-bat creature seen in Los Angeles's Port Town, resembles t

I am now 52 years old and live in Pedro until I was 35 years old. I had many friends who lived in houses that were haunted. Accept, believe, and pray for the departed.
