Haunted Houses to Visit This Halloween in San Diego, California

Halloween is just around the corner and if you live in or around San Diego and are looking for a bit of a spook, look no further. I've compiled some known places that are reported to be haunted. So if you are just itching to see something of the supernatural this Halloween, check out these scary places.

The Whaley House

Address: 2482 San Diego Avenue, San Diego

The Whaley House is famous for being haunted. The Travel Channel agrees as they have this museum as the very top contender for haunted places in America. Believe it or not, but there are only two places in the entire state of California that have been given the official stamp of being haunted and you guessed it, The Whaley House is one of them! Now the back story is too much to get into so you might want to check out my article entitled, "The Haunted Whaley House" that was published back in March of this year. Shameless plug I know, but the gist of it is three ghosts or so haunt The Whaley House. Thomas Whaley and his wife Anna (original owners) and Yankee Jim Robinson who was hung where the museum now stands at. The Whaley House is open until midnight on Halloween. Hotel Del Coronado

Address: 1500 Orange Avenue, Coronado

Another great haunted spot to visit is the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado. The impressive Victorian resort looks innocent enough and inviting to the casual observer but one woman is said to still roam about 100 years after her death. Kate Morgan shot herself when she realized she was pregnant. It is assumed her husband did not want the child. She had been staying in room 3312. Strange things have been said to happen in this very room today including objects disappearing and then showing up later on. I did an article on her ghost so if you are interested, it is entitled, "Haunted San Diego: The Haunting at Hotel Del Coronado" published in July of this year. Can you see a pattern? Last plug here, I promise. For more information about Hotel Del Coronado, please go to their website below.

La Casa De Estudillo

Address: 4001 Mason Street, San Diego

The De Estudillo family who once owned the property are said to be haunting the place today along with a priest. It has since turned into a museum and is listed as a California Historical Landmark. Strange paranormal activity has occurred in the large mansion which includes temperature changes, apparitions making themselves known and music appearing out of nowhere! Sounds spooky! The museum is open everyday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the cost of admission? It's free! Not a bad deal right?
