Haunted Local Folklore and Legends in New York

Do you believe in ghosts? Sightings of specters are reported all over the world everyday! Here are some of the reports made from the state of New York by tourists, as well as, natives!

Albany County, Albany, New York

In Professor Java's Coffee Sanctuary, many have claimed to have seen the apparition of a middle-aged gentleman in mirrors. Employees have made reports of strange and unexplainable noises during the nighttime hours and many have seen lights throughout the place go on and off on their own. Some of the more sensitive people in the place have complained of the hairs on their arms standing up and a heavy feeling coming over them. If that isn't scary enough, some have also said that they felt as if someone were standing behind them, breathing down the back of their neck and some have even claimed that unseen hands have touched and/or shoved them. Also reported here is the apparition of a dog; this dog has been seen, as well as, heard throughout the building.

Bronx County, Bronx, New York

At the Fordham University in Bronx County, students and faculty members have made paranormal claims in almost every building on campus. Many have claimed that they smelled cigar smoke when no one was smoking, felt cold spots where there shouldn't have been any, heard laughter close by when no one else was there, felt as if they were being watched, and heard strange banging noises on walls.

Even more frightening, there have also been reports of people being touched or shoved and a few have even claimed that they awoke during the night feeling as if someone were choking them.

Many night watchmen have reported seeing locked doors suddenly swing open on their own, chairs sliding and banging into walls or chairs being thrown down stairwells by some unseen force.

A few apparitions have also been seen in a few of the buildings: a young blond woman who has been seen the shower area, a young man walking past dorm rooms during the night and a young boy who has apparently appeared in dorm rooms at night.

Fulton County, Broadalbin, New York

In Fulton County's Broadalbin Hotel, patrons have said that they felt someone sit on their beds during the night; when the lights were turned on, the bed looked as if there were weight on it but no person could be seen. Some employees have also reported seeing the apparitions of soldiers in older style uniforms, walking in the hallways during the night.

Monroe County, Brockport, New York

At the State University of New York, students and faculty have made reports of laughter and voices in the Hartwell Hall building, after hours. Some of the cleaning staff have claimed that they felt someone lightly touch them while they were working but no one was there. In the empty pool area, some have even claimed to hear the sounds of someone splashing around but there was no water in the pool.
