The United Kingdom has become home to many ghosts and haunts. What follows are a few instances of hauntings in the U.K.

It seems a home in Adisham has a poltergeist. In the mid 1970s, a resident of the home nicknamed the poltergeist "The Force". Among other things occurring in the haunted home, boiling water would come up through the floor. Tables would also rise by themselves, and even when power to the building was turned off, the electric meter would run.

Saint Lawrence's Church in Alton seems to have its own ghost problem. The church was the site of a civil war battle in which a Royalist Colonel was trapped and killed. Some people today can still hear the Royalists and Roundheads going at it.

In Baltonsborough, St. Dunstan's Church serves as home to the ghost of a monk. It is believed that the monk was traveling to meet his dying father, who was at the church. Before the monk could reach the church, he came down with smallpox and died. The monk so regretted not meeting his father that he now haunts the church.

In Ireland, one can find the Charleville Castle. Seated near the Shannon River in Tullamore, it is an impressive sight. The woods near the castle were once frequented by druids. In the early 1800s, a girl died in the castle after falling down some stairs. She can still be heard in the castle, moving furniture, laughing or talking.

Edinburgh Castle, in Scotland, is quite a historical building. Many parts of it are more than 900 years old. Many likely died in the castle's dungeon, so it should come as no surprise the castle is haunted. Witnesses have reported a headless drummer and a phantom piper. French prisoners from the Seven Years War, as well as colonial prisoners from America's Revolutionary War, have also been seen by those visiting the castle. A ghost dog has even been seen, wandering near the dog cemetery on property.

The Leap Castle in Ireland is haunted by as many as 20 ghosts. A particularly mean-spirited ghost resides in the dungeon, and can be quite vicious when they are provoked. The castle's chapel, nicknamed the "Bloody Chapel" also has a haunted reputation. Workmen discovered the dungeon around 1900, and found it filled with skeletons. In the chapel, a warrior supposedly killed his brother at the altar. The Leap Castle is so notorious it has even been investigated by the Most Haunted television series.
