Haunted Locations to Visit This Halloween in Louisiana

If you are living near Louisiana and you want to have a different kind of thrilling supernatural and out of this world adventure, then you might as well visit some of the top haunted locations the area has to offer this Halloween.

Typically, as Halloween is fast approaching, a lot of guided tours and packages are offered for those who have adventurous spirits and desire to visit spooky places.

One of the most popular haunted locations in Louisiana is the LaLaurie Mansion. This house was built by Delphine LaLaurie in 1832. This house was believed to be a place of torture and mystery because Ms. LaLaurie was an American socialite and a known serial killer who tortured her slaves and mutilate them. Her hatred against black slaves had caused her to chain them in the attics and other parts of the house and torture them. It was believed that she has caused over a hundred of black slaves' death. Today, the house is wrapped with mystery as sounds of chains and black figures are heard and seen.

Another popular haunted location in Louisiana would be the house of the "Voodoo Queen of the New Orleans" which is the Laveau House. Marie Laveau was known to be the queen of voodoo in New Orleans in the 1830s as she performed voodoo for more than sixty years, yet she didn't seem to age. People have speculations that there are actually two women doing the trick, possibly a mother and a daughter tandem, to make it possible. However, in the year 1895, Marie Laveau had mysteriously disappeared. People believed that the spirit of Marie Laveau still performs voodoo in this old house.

In Destrehan Louisiana, the Destrehan Plantation is considered to be a haunted location. The manor was actually built in 1790. This place had been a location of numerous paranormal activities ever since restorations were done during the 1980's. People believed that a ghost of a man named Stephen Henderson is still haunting the house to this day. Visitors and employees in the home report sightings of orbs and hearing disembodied voices.

Another haunted location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is the old state penitentiary which is now the Louisiana State Police Headquarters and Barracks. This is a popular place for ghostly sightings and paranormal activities. The offices in the station used to be the old execution chamber and morgue. Employees in the offices often hear footsteps even though no one is around.
