Of course, there are the preparations for your camping trip. Since most of us aren't going to be camping in the middle of nowhere and instead will camp at a modern campsite we won't be needing as many items to be brought along. If you plan on having meals it would be best to bring paper plates, napkins and plastic silverware. For the campfire you will want to bring along matches, which is a given. You should be able to find wood around most campsites so that shouldn't be a problem. If you think it is then bring some of your own wood to burn. You can also bring a digital camera or camcorder on the trip but that'll be up to you since it breaks the "no modern technology" rule of camping.
As for specific camping activities, one of those volleyball nets are a must. To make a night volleyball game more exciting get one of those glow-in-the-dark volleyballs. If you plan on hiking during the day make sure you pack needed items such as sneakers since sandals are a big no-no on rough paths, especially when doing some climbing. Another important thing is to have some drinking bottles for water since you'll be needing it.
There's nothing better than camping around a campfire with some great friends or family you haven't seen in a while catching up on things. But the preparation for your trip and not stressing out in the days leading up to it holds a lot of weight over how good of a mood you'll be in during camping. No one wants to be around someone in a bad and/or a stressed mood. So leave all those negative emotions behind and enjoy what is most likely a once a year or so event. You wouldn't go to a formal reunion would you? So you should see a camping trip as an informal reunion and just enjoy it. And when your camping trip is over make sure to completely clean up your site; leaving no garbage behind. Most of all, cherish the time you've had and make it a yearly social tradition for everyone to make lasting memories.
