Have You Ever Had a Bad Internet Date?

If you're like me, I believed when you think about internet dating, you picture geeky-loser types that couldn't get a date with a fist full of fifties. This was a common misconception years ago, but in reality, internet dating is becoming more mainstream, catering to successful and beautiful people. Not to mention that internet dating site's are a multi-million dollar business and growing.

According to the latest census, 44 percent of Americans are single, of which 42 percent has tried online dating. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of websites playing matchmaker all over the internet. People are finding love. Some are finding internet dating more challenging, with people not being exactly what they have claimed to be. Another rather interesting statistic is that 72 percent of online daters admit to lying.

Have you ever dated, or at least met, someone online? How truthful were you? Or her. How truthful was she? Did the posted pictures appear to be several years old?

Perhaps a more fitting title would have been; "Have You Ever Been a Bad Internet Date?"

The point I'm making is that there are some pretty juicy stories going on out there. Real life Jerry Springer type stuff and maybe even some success stories too. Perhaps it would be a good idea to find a place where you can relate these experiences and maybe warn someone about the "bad dater" that trolls the dating sites/

Like Kristi writes: I don't have just one story, I have a whole list of losers that I have come into contact with in the four years that I have been "dating."

The stories abound.

Deb tells us: "Women aren't the only ones who misrepresent "average" figure. Men weighing anything from 125 to 250 tend to say they are average even if they are nothing but skin and bones or radically chunky. Among men, apparently anything over 5'5 is considered close to 6 feet tall. Guys also describe themselves as good looking or above average in appearance when they are ugly as a sin! They also describe themselves as athletic when they are merely not chubby. For men, their own appearance is a real thing of beauty no matter what they look like, but they all think that women should be Cindy Crawford or Tyra Banks or at the very least, Sandra Bullock."

I remember I would score my dates with the young honey's back in the day and compare the "points" with my friends. YES! I admit it but I haven't done that in months. But would it not be a good idea to have a place to vent and rant and perhaps issue a score of the date that you've just had.

What a great public service that would be.

With the added information available on this person, you can save time by knowing certain things before you decide to meet. But not all information would be accurate though, it still would only be someone's opinion, but a general pattern could be charted.

It could be considered a personal growth tool too, I suppose. You can read what's been said about you from other people that you've dated. You can see where your "technique" needs improving.

Or you can just have fun with it. People get so caught up in the drudgery of life at time's, they forget how to have fun.
