Coldwater Creek recently opened a new store at the Woodland Hills Mall in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The stores offer the "best of the best" in Coldwater Creek apparel, jewelry, accessories, gifts and home accessories. The Coldwater Creek customer has a profile of a professional woman, 35 to 60 years of age, educated and has more discretionary income than free time. I use the retail store as a place to get away from it all while I shop. I also enjoy the ease and convenience of e-commerce and catalog shopping. The stores capture the feel of the Coldwater Creek brands with soft woods, ambient lighting, and a merchandising strategy that promises a sense of discovery. It is a lovely experience, wandering the isles, feeling the beautiful textures and admiring the beauty of the handcrafted jewelry and accessories.

Coldwater Creek was started in 1984 with one catalog that included 18 items. The company currently offers about 3,000 items. Company headquarters are in Sandpoint, Idaho, with a customer service and tech center in nearby Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and a state-of-the-art distribution and customer service center located in Parkersburg, W.V. The E-commerce Site was launched in July of 1999 and currently represents approximately 20% of total company sales. Approximately 60% of Coldwater Creek customers live east of the Mississippi River.

Shopping by catalog

I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting the store at Woodland Hills Mall, but since approximately 1990 I have shopped their merchandise by catalog. I have never been disappointed with the quality of any items that I have received from Coldwater Creek and on two occasions when I did return the merchandise for refund, it was immediately refunded. No questions asked. Shopping by catalog takes a little bit of discipline. When I receive a package I immediately open it, check the item over, try it on to see if it is what I like and will enjoy. If not, I immediately repackage the item and plan to return it to the post office within a day or two. I am amazed at how many people will not return the item, all the while complaining about the company. You need not do that with Coldwater Creek. They are absolutely driven to have happy customers and they have created one with me. On many occasions I have ordered items from different companies and have been very disappointed with the item I received. The picture in the catalog did the item more than justice. One of the statistics about the item I always check is the weight. The weight of an item can easily give an indication of the quality of the material. Also, it is important that I know my correct size. Every catalog has a measuring scale in it. Use a tape! Save yourself some time and wasted effort by guessing sizes. When it comes to purchases for people that I do not closely associate with.....I keep it impersonal. The jewelry at Coldwater Creek is a true "work of art" and you cannot go wrong with any item from the jewelry department. Household items are always a good choice.

Shopping on-line

Since Coldwater Creek launched its web site in 1999 I have mostly purchased from their website. I have found the site easily navigated and straight-forward. Check-out is simple and secure. They even offer on-line live chat "Instant Help" for inquiries. The best part of the on-line store is the Outlet. There I can purchase items for up to 70% off the retail offered price. I will see an item in the catalog when it arrives and from time to time will wait to see if the item will appear at the Outlet. Many times it has and I have been delighted to get such a bargain. From now until the end of the month you can go to the site daily and register for a $5,000.00 shopping spree. There are other prizes as well.

A great experience

If you are looking for a gift for another woman or just for yourself, let me encourage you to visit Coldwater Creek. Pamper yourself or another with the very best!

Well done article to introduce others to Coldwater Creek. I love their use of color.

I'm a big fan of Coldwater Creek and I enjoyed this review very much. One thing that bugs me, though, is that they offer the same products at different prices in their catalogs and stores (and it's not consistent which one is cheaper). Perhaps it's because I'm in New Jersey and the things that sell well at my local store aren't necessarily big catalog sellers, but it is frustrating to order something in the catalog and then see if for 20 dollars less at the store, or vice versa.

Great review! I've looked at their catalog, but never bought anything because I didn't know anything about the company. Next time perhaps I will buy something.
