With your Flip, there are many add-ons you can buy for your device that are useful. These make the safety and functionality of your camera much better.
At minimum for the protection of the screen, you should get a small sleeve to put the camera in. Most Flips come with a bag, but many don't like this. There are very cheap sleeves to put the camera in so you can pull it out quickly. Many like the ones that attach to your belt like a cell phone give you quick access when you want to capture a moment on the fly.
If traveling with this device, be sure that you get a harder case for it. While the sleeve protects the screen from scratches, it won't protect it from being squished under the weight of your luggage. A hard case protects everything much better, making it a safer way of traveling.
The old Flips ran on batteries. If you have one of those, get rechargeable batteries because these save money and resources. If you have the new versions of the Flip with its own rechargeable battery inside, get the extended power packs. This will let you charge your Flip from your computer, an outlet and in your car, giving you access to power when you need it.
Every Flip has the option of being mounted on a tripod. While it's not a professional camera for this type of work, it can still give you quality shots. There are small ones for tabletop use and other more professional versions. If you need steady shots, a tripod will help and work with this device.
