Have Fun Alone Outside This Summer as a Teenager or Young Adult

S. Whithers
Now that it's warm and sunshiny most of us want to get outside and enjoy it. Sports are a popular activity to do outside, but sometimes you are on your own and still want to enjoy yourself outside. However once you start to feel too old for tag and hopscotch it can be hard to find excuses to get outside. Try these fun activities next time you want to get out of the house.

Hacky-Sack
This fun sport can be played alone or with others and only requires a bean bag, which can be purchased at most sports supplies stores. It can be tricky to start learning but once you learn the first basic moves you can endlessly practice it, working on harder and harder tricks and doing it continuously for longer. When you mess up the ball tends to go flying so it's well suited for the outdoors. Despites its destructive tendencies indoors, it can actually be done in a small space so you can do it pretty much anywhere there aren't fragile objects.

Basketball
While the actual sport requires teams, just shooting hoops is fun and can be done alone anywhere there's a basketball hoop. You can practice tricks shots, lay-ups, dribbling, and free throws to your heart's content while getting plenty of fresh air.

Reading
You can also find a nice spot at the park or pull out a lawn chair in your backyard and just read a good book. It's relaxing and a great reason to be outside. You can study or do paperwork (you could even bring out a laptop) if you want to get some work done, or you can read a nice fiction book to unwind. All of it feels nicer to do outside.

Listen to Music
If you have one, an mp3 player can be a great form of entertainment to bring outside. Find that same good reading spot I described earlier and you can chill out to some great tunes. Music is often listened to in the background while doing other things, but it's actually quite nice to listen to while just sitting out in the summer air. Or even taking a stroll or going for a jog. Music can feels especially amazing when enjoying it outdoors under the sun.

Cloud Watching
Sometimes all you want to do is lie on the ground and stare up at the clouds. This can be incredibly fun, peaceful, and relaxing. You can watch the clouds float by or try to identify shapes in them. If you don't want to get dirty you can lay out a beach towel or picnic cloth to lie on. You can also lie out on a lawn chair.
