Have Movies Messed Up Relationships?

Relationships have changed over the years. It not uncommon to see an old couple, who were high school sweethearts, and got married right after the graduated. Today, you hear about single mothers, young girls having babies, and people cheating on each other. It seems like we as society have taken a turn for the worst. But recently, some girls on my job were talking about this movie called The Notebook.

I've never seen it but from the way they were stirred up over it, i could tell it was not a movie I wanted to see. These undying love stories are wack. I mean they happen in real life sometimes but most of the time it never happens like that.

The prince charmings of today are playboy bachelors. The qualities that get that one girl usually turn on every woman. I hope girls are not all looking for epic romances. There is nothing like expecting one thing and getting another.

I consider myself a romantic. I like to go to the beach, do candle-light dinners, and buy flowers. I do the massages and foot rubs. I have even washed my girlfriend's hair and taken intimate baths. Even doing all that, I realize that my relationship is not like those movie romances.

I haven't trekked across the world to find my woman. I haven't had to fight in wars in an attempt to get back home to my girlfriend. I haven't had to pledge my undying love in a crazy way. Everyday I wake up and go to work, I show her my love. I provide for my girlfriend, i'm her shoulder to lean on, and i'm her lover unconditionally.

That's what should make a relationship romantic and epic. A real, real life romance.
