Have Your Own Skeleton Decorating Contest

Most often you hear about pumpkin decorating contests and who can carve the most unique pumpkin, but why not organize a skeleton decorating contest. It is a unique idea that can be loads of fun for everyone and really allow contestants to show off their creativity! Decorating a skeleton may not be as easy as it sounds, so a skeleton decorating contest may be just the event to kick over a great Halloween in your area.

To begin your quest for a Halloween Skeleton Decorating Contest you need to decide who your target audience will be. Will you have a contest for different age categories, divisions or will it be open to everyone? What size skeletons do you want to have for decorating; will they be full size or mini? What will the prizes be and who will be the judge? I suggest opening your Skeleton Decorating Contest to everyone and encouraging parents and children to work on the contest together. Perhaps have a one entry per family limit. I also suggest have the skeleton full size, allow the participants the option of using a plastic skeleton or making their own skeleton out of whatever materials that see fit. I also suggest having categories in your Skeleton Decoration Contest. Categories to consider are Scariest Skeleton, Most Unique Skeleton, Cutest Skeleton, Funniest Skeleton and Most Original Skeleton. Feel free to use your own ideas to make the Skeleton Decorating Contest original.

Once you have an outline of how you want your Skeleton Decorating Contest to go, advertising is the next step. Making flyers is a great way to get the word out. You can post flyers in local businesses, post offices and even in the schools. Request the teachers to encourage their kids to participate in the Skeleton Decorating Contest. You can even call the local newspapers and radio stations to see if they will grant you some free advertising if you mention their participation at the close of your contest. Use your own advertising skills and ideas as well.

As with any contest, be sure to have a clear posting of rules and regulations. Make sure contestants know what you are looking for and what you are not looking for. Make sure it is clearly posted that your Skeleton Decorating Contest is family oriented and design entries should be kid friendly.

Make sure the deadline for an entry is clearing posted on your advertisements as well as where to bring Skeleton entries to. Make sure you stick to your deadline to keep the contest fair and unbiased. Also make sure each Skeleton entry is clearly marked either on the back or on the foot of the skeleton. Make sure no names of contestants can be seen when the contest is judged for complete and total fairness.

When picking who will judge your Skeleton Decorating Contest, pick people in your town that are trustworthy. Also pick individuals who have experience judging and people the public are familiar with. Stand by your judges and their final decisions.

Once the contest is complete and the final winners have been chosen, display the winning entries proudly. Take plenty of pictures. The entries will make wonderful Halloween decorations. Perhaps the Skeleton Decorating Contest will become an annual tradition in your town.

You may also choose to have a similar version of a Skeleton Decorating Contest at a Halloween party. You can provide small skeletons and a variety of decorations for your guests to use to decorate their skeletons with. Let your imagination run wild and make Halloween more fun however you choose to have a Skeleton Decorating Contest.

Great ideas. You thought of some great things that I didn't when I wrote on the same topic. Best of luck to you in your future writing endeavors!
