Have a Romantic Meal at Walt Disney World: 3 Unexpected Places
What the Average Traveler May Not Know
Disney's Hollywood Studios
Peevy's Polar Pipeline - I know, the name doesn't sound so appetizing. But this is one of the best places to grab a snack, sit down, relax, and have some face time with the one you love. It's especially romantic at dusk, and happens to be less crowded at that time as well. There are many other dining options in this area, including buffets and cafes. But by the time of the day that you start to get hungry, chances are you're hot, you need a break from the crowds, and you just want to look the one you love in the face and talk about your day so far. Also, sitting down and eating a full meal when you intend to go right back out and hop on a coaster isn't always the best idea. My husband and I had an amazing hour just sitting down and chatting over carrot sticks and cokes, a far more romantic moment watching a Florida sunset than it would've been in a crowded buffet.
EPCOT
San Angel Inn - This restaurant is inside the Mexico pavilion at EPCOT's World Showcase. That means one thing above all else, air conditioning! Trust me; you'll enjoy it in the middle of a vacation in Florida. You'll also be more in the mood for a full meal if you're not sitting in the heat. I would highly recommend that you take advantage of Disney's call-ahead seating, as word gets around that this is a pleasant place to dine. The tables are a little bit close together, but since it will just be the two of you, you should fare well in a crowded space. The restaurant is lit by beautiful lanterns, you will likely be serenaded by an authentic mariachi band, the food is excellent, and you'll have a lovely view of the "Gran Fiesta" boat ride as it rolls past. The interior of the Mexico pavilion is meant to replicate a relaxing evening in a quiet Mexican village, and is somewhat renascent of the Blue Bayou restaurant at Disneyland. It's practically built for romance.
The Magic Kingdom
Aloha Isle - This is another snack-type experience similar to what you will get at Peevy's Polar Pipeline. The Aloha Isle features frozen treats, fresh fruit, all types of drinks, chips, and other snack items. One of the greatest things about this food stand is that you have plenty of healthy choices. I find that I need a lot of energy on days where I'm visiting the park. Junk food tends to just want me to take a nap, fresh fruit and vegetables help me stay nice and ride-ready. While it's true that this portion of the park is typically crowded, it's also true that there are many nooks and crannies in this area. If you come to this food stand during a night time parade (all the crowds will be watching and the space will be free), and pick a spot near the Jungle Cruise or Tarzan's Treehouse, you'll be amazed at the romantic atmosphere. You'll be able to enjoy your snack in the soft evening Florida breeze amidst palm trees and the sounds of some of Disney's most iconic rides. You'll feel like you're in the Caribbean, you'll get away from the crowds, and you'll be able to share an inexpensive and romantic moment. A rare chance to relax can be one of the most romantic (and very necessary) moments out of your entire vacation. You'll find that moments like this are also some of the most memorable once you're home living real life again.
