Fireworks Safety

It's time to celebrate American History, and no fourth of july event can go without fireworks. Although fireworks displays are exciting and very entertaining, they can also be very dangerous. National Fire Protection Agency that in 2007, hospital treated 9,800 people were treated for accidents involving fireworks across the United States. And in 2006, there were 32,600 fires caused by fireworks. With these statistics, it makes you wonder what people are thinking when they light off their fireworks. If you plan on attending a fireworks display or are having a home party that includes fireworks, please read this informational guide on safety tips.

1. Fireworks are not for Amateurs, if you do not know what you are doing, don't touch them. Fireworks are meant for experienced adults and trained professionals. Not for children or teenagers.

2. Read all warnings and instructions for each fireworks. Knowing the risks and the properly setting the display will reduce accidents.

3. Attendees should stay away from the fireworks, and any area that they are set up. Do not let anyone, especially children pick up any used fireworks, as they may be able to continue burning with out any notice.

4. Keep any unnecessary paper, wood, or flammable liquids away from the fireworks display. These can catch fire very quickly.

5. Once lit, stay back. Do not try to adjust or move fireworks while they are burning.

6. Do not try to be courageous or experimental. This can cause unwanted effects.

View your states fireworks laws. As some only allow the purchase of novelty fireworks, such as sparklers, smoke bombs, and snappers. There are five states however that do not allow consumer fireworks at all; Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. If you disobey these laws, you can be subject to arrest or fined.

Safety should be your number one concern when setting off fireworks. When possible, follow these simple tips to insure you and your family have a fun, entertaining fireworks display.
