Have You Seen the First "Sex and the City" Movie Trailer?

Film Scheduled to Debut in Theaters May 30, 2008

I admit, the television show "Sex and the City" is one of my guilty pleasures. The episodes seem more fabulous in reruns than when initially aired on HBO. Being in my mid-thirties, single and fabulous, I can relate somewhat to the "Sex and the City" characters of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon).

The buzz about a "Sex and the City" movie debuting in 2008 has tickled my curiosity about the chick flick. "Entertainment Tonight" (another guilty pleasure) kept me updated this summer and fall with glimpses from the movie set.

I was excited to hear about the "Sex and the City" movie trailer at the "Sex in the City" Movie Web site and remembered back to the HBO series finale in February 2004. Carrie, the fashionista journalist, and Mr. Big (Chris Noth), ended up together, but would they be together in the "Sex and the City" movie? Did the adoption of a baby girl from China happen for Charlotte and Harry (Evan Handler)? Did Samantha's breast cancer stay in remission? Is Miranda still the career-minded super mom and wife?

So many questions I have about the "Sex and the City" character development. That's why I couldn't wait to see the movie trailer last night. I even popped a little popcorn and poured a glass of wine to enjoy the event. It felt appropriate.

Once settled at my computer, I clicked play. The nearly 50-second trailer begins with sultry tunes and nighttime shots of New York City, all fitting in perfectly with the "Sex and the City" image. Carrie's familiar narration teases the audience. Does her dialogue hint she and Mr. Big are no longer together? After finding each other in the series finale, have they traveled down different paths again?

Clips of the "Sex and the City" women flash throughout the movie trailer with Carrie Bradshaw being the primary focus. Fashion, glamour and fabulousness shine throughout, primarily focusing on a happy Carrie in a wedding dress. One of the final shots is of her and Mr. Big embraced in a big smooch.

But when it was over, I was left saying, "Huh?"

While the movie trailer assured me the "Sex and the City" gals are still pals, it didn't give me much substance. It looked like a sugar-coated, happily ever after film and told me nothing about the storyline. The "Sex and the City" television show ended happily ever after so I ask, what is the new storyline this movie will show fans?

The "Sex and the City" movie trailer did what it was suppose to do, it teased me. It's the first trailer released and I look forward to seeing more leading up to the scheduled "Sex and the City" movie release on May 30, 2008.

I can't wait for the movie - LOOOOOVE Sex and the City and own all the seasons on DVD - in fact I just rewatched the last two seasons so I can be ready for the movie (Not sure when it's being released here in Bangkok though or IF it's being released?)

My daughters (age 19 and 23) drew me into the series a couple years ago - Now I've got the dvds! Like you, I'm left with a cool "?" in pondering the trailer. Think I'll wait for the dvd.

I've heard they're planning some full, frontal male nudity scenes, adultery and maybe even some spousal abuse. Sounds like a wholesome film.

Thank you for this article. I knew they'd been shooting, but I didn't know a trailer had been put together already! Apparently they don't have enough complete to make a truly tanatalizing trailer yet, but I have the faith that the movie will be fabulous! I love the series.

The whole Carrie/Big wedding better not be some kind of trick though because I'd be SOOOOOOOOOOOO mad if it it was.

One of my relatives (almost 60) just loves this show and has all the DVDs. This would be a great post-holiday gift for her, and she's difficult to buy for. So this reviews serves double duty for me. Many thanks!
