Have Simon Cowell and Mezghan Hussainy Broken Up?

The UK Daily Mail ran a story yesterday that had Simon Cowell attending ladies day at the Ascot horse races. The decidedly royal event was attended by some of Britain's finest, with the Queen herself in attendance, her granddaughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenia and a spattering of other British acting royalty, such as Joan Collins.

But, it was who was not in attendance that set tongues to wagging and I must confess, piqued my own curiosity as well. Simon Cowell's girlfriend and fiance' Mezghan Hussainy (Mishy), was nowhere to be seen. In fact, Simon Cowell was in attendance with prior girlfriend Sinetta Malone and another female friend, Jackie St. Claire.

Simon Cowell Gets Along Well With Exes

In fairness to Simon, it should be noted, this is not unusual behavior for him. He has said many times that he gets on well with all of his exes and in particular, Sinetta, who is married with children. Simon and Sinetta have often been photographed together over the years and have even vacationed together.

Simon Cowell certainly seems to have no place for bitterness in his life or in his relationships with his exes. This only speaks well of him as a person, but one can't help but wonder if Simon and Mezghan Hussainy have broken up.

Simon and Mezghan Not Seen Together Since May 26th

In another story that the UK Daily Mail is running today, it was noted that Mezghan has not been seen in public with Simon Cowell since May 26^th, when she was with him at the American Idol finale and Simon Cowell, send off, though it was noted that she did not attend the after party with him.

Since then Simon has attended the Bafta Awards, where he received a lifetime achievement award, but again, without Mezghan. In fact, it was Jackie St. Claire who attended with him. Simon has attended several functions, events and parties since then and at each one of them, he has been with Sinetta Malone.

Can Simon Cowell Really Settle Down?

So, is it even possible for Simon Cowell to settle down? To his credit, he has made no secret of his selfishness, his moodiness and his tendency to work nearly 24 hours a day. He has said often he didn't think it was fair for women who were with him and that he makes much better boyfriend material than husband material.

As with the other women in his life, Simon has been most generous with Mezghan Hussainy. He has moved her into his post Beverly Hills home and has showered her with gifts, most notably, a vintage Jaguar for her birthday this past March.

Most women love to be showered with gifts, but few are satisfied with them as a substitute for the love and affection they crave from their men. Like many of us do, Mezghan may harbor the idea that she will be the one who will change the bachelor ways of prickly Simon Cowell. And frankly, she may very well be. But, if Simon's history and his own admissions about himself are any indication, Mezghan Hussainy will have her work cut out for her.

Even those close to Simon Cowell doubt his ability to actually make it down the aisle. Ryan Seacrest has often remarked that the only love affair Simon has ever had has been with his mirror and that he expects to find out that the engagement has been one big joke. For the happy couple's sake, let's hope this is not true.
