Well there are some things you can do to make a road trip go smooth. A little planning that you can do quickly on a whim whenever you feel like hitting the road. First it is a good idea to check the Internet to get an idea of where you are going. Getting some information on where you are going and getting a map is important. You don't always have to stick to the map and you can decide to take a different road when you get there, but a map is a good idea so if you do get lost you know a way home. Also you can get an idea of what towns you will be passing through. If you are going out into the country or off the beaten path you can see where the gas stations are so that you know when to fill up your vehicle.
When taking a road trip it is always nice to bring some food and water. Pick it up at the gas station on your way out of town. Water is always very important so grab a few bottles along with any other beverage you may want. I always get a few snacks too, some crackers or chips or something and a piece for fruit. Caffeine is always a plus too ha-ha! I bring my dog on most trips so bringing some water and food for him is very important too.
Before I leave the house I usually throw a pair of sneakers and a jacket in the car. Just in case the were to car break down and I would have to end up walking a few miles. My sneakers would be much better than my flimsy flip flops. It sounds like a lot of things to do for a last minute trip, but not really it's all quick and easy and can be done in like 20 minutes. I believe it's worth it, and in the long run just doing these little things can save you a lot of trouble later. So get out there and enjoy the summer, pack up your vehicle and hit the road!
