Loren Jaslyn
Do you need help with your home business? Have magazines to pass out? Your clients are requesting that you work much faster in getting them service. You have been experiencing burn out in regards to over-due tasks. And you have a teenager sleep in the bed? Get him up and have him take some of this load!

Get "At Home" Assistance - If you have overdue tasks within your business and you have a teenage-this would be the perfect opportunity to hire them as an assistant. You can cut down on the time it takes for you to do tasks as well as on hiring any outside help. There may be also some tax benefits in regards to hiring your child, you will have to check with your tax consultant. You may need products to be shipped or flyers and magazines to be passed out. And who knows-do you have a niche to be produced frequently and you're having a brain cramp; don't put it past your son or daughter to have some good ideas-start a dialogue and just ask. You may be surprised to see that they have a knack for this. Having your teen work for you can also bring you two closer. This doesn't hurt and it may give you some cool points with your teen.

Have them Learn and Work for Free -Make this a learning opportunity for your teen. Having them learn the ropes of your home business is not only great for you and the things you need to get accomplished, but it's also great for your teen. They will be learning something that other children miss out on sometimes at school. Some entrepreneurs wish they could have started learning business basics when they were younger as they would have had more chances at becoming successful at a younger age. Why learn and work for free? For someone who is starting a home business, many times you start off with limited knowledge and you don't get paid upfront with all the work you put into it. Depending on what you're marketing, your income may not truly be what you want it to be until 6 months or a year from when you start. Having your teen work for free is just a lesson you can teach them.

Now-if he really wants an allowance from the work he is doing-go ahead and teach him a lesson by hiring him on as an employee instead of an assistant. Have him do ALL the legwork and when it comes down to payday-give him a percentage of what was agreed. He should only end up with less than $10. He'll ask you where the rest of his money went-another life lesson. Let him know that in the real world of working, your money is always split amongst others and you only get the bottom of the barrel or what's left over; however, if he was patient enough to work hard as a business assistant-he would be getting a percentage of what the company makes every time there is a profit. Ask him which he would you rather have and work harder for?
