It has been known that many exclusive spas in the States are using cat and other pet products as beauty treatments, and they are very effective too.
Indeed, this rather weird treatment isn't at all new. It may have been discovered by others. But since it had recently been given an approval by the Hollywood stars, it's catching, on to many.
Cat lovers will appreciate it very much, and they probably already have the ingredients at hand. Here are the most bizarre skin treatments from the best spas in the U.S. Take note that these are not the real terms they use in those exclusive places!
Kitty Litter Body Polish
Believe it or not, the granules of fine, refined pumice we cat-lovers use to line our pet's litter boxes is the same stuff they use to dermabrate your body with. Mixed with expensive body soaps and moisturizers, the masseuse rubs this all over a client's whole body to remove dead skin and stimulate blood flow to the skin: Since kitty litter is sterilized and make ideal skin exfoliant it will bring out younger and softer skin after it has been worked gently over your body.
Kitty litter is also used for foot and hand spas and other exfoliating treatments. Volcanic pumice or silica is what this feline toilet product is made of. Kitty litter comes in coarse or fine, sand-like granules. This product also absorbs odors. Unlike ordinary beach sand, they are a bit expensive, but they can be bought in 1-2 kilo bags or in large 6-10 kilo sacks. The quality of kitty litter depends on brand names. Spas prefer those made with all-natural ingredients, they are the more costly kind, guaranteed that no chemicals have been added.
Using kitty litter as body polish is not recommended for home use. The technique requires a professional's touch, so cat-owners should not do this treatment on your own.
Sardine and Milk Facials
They say that lactic acid and omega oils are the best skin moisturizer, that's why they've come up with this cat-food combo beauty mask for the face. In expensive spas, oily sardines and milk have been replaced by chic-'n-posh odorless, natural products which are manufactured by well-known names in the business. But some Hollywood celebs prefer to use the unprocessed concoction, claiming that it's better and cheaper and it can be applied in the privacy of your bathroom... or kitchen.
Sardines in oil are mashed with evaporated cow's milk and run through a blender. The smelly paste is applied on the face or even the whole body to soften and moisturize skin for fifteen to twenty minutes. Spas have designed special brushes that are like cats' tongues to scrape off the concoction from the skin just as if a real cat was licking it off. Dead and old skin is exfoliated, revealing a fresher layer underneath. After that, the person can wash off with soap in a shower.
Sardines and milk can also be used for the hair as you would with hot oil, wrapping up the hair smeared liberally with the mixture in damp towels and applying moist heat. With the natural ingredients, it may take a longer time to wash it off. Posh people are also doing it and claiming it does miracles for their skin and. hair! This unusual treatment is safe to use at home. Although, it is best that you use a loofah or wash cloth instead of having your pet cat lick you off!
Fish Oil- Hot Oil Treatment
Remember what your vet says about fish oil? How it can make your cat's coat shiny, soft and healthy? It will also do the same for your hair as well! Squeeze 5-8 capsules of fish oil (the kind you give to your kitty as a supplement) to your favorite conditioner or hot oil product and follow the usual instructions. Regular use will make your hair more manageable, this treatment is best for those who have their natural waves relaxed or straightened.
There are other stranger things that people, especially women do to be beautiful. Using cat food is just one of the few. There are just a few minor drawbacks from this... your cat might think you are good enough to nibble on when you are smeared all over with her favorite food!
