Most recognizable gemstones are the ruby, opal, sapphire, amethyst, and topaz. When buying loose gemstones a buyer usually picks the color related to their birth. These precious little gems are most often affectionately called birthstones. The wonderful thing about buying loose gemstones is the ability to pick the setting it will call home.
