Go out for dinner of course, I mean seriously who feels like cooking after the day you've had. Not to mention you've got to get ready to work your plan. Because Christmas is coming and you've got a surprise to get done, and since it's getting late you'll need to hurry.
So what you do is either go out to eat, order a pizza or get Chinese takeout. I'd go for the Chinese takeout personally, but since I'm not the one spending all this money, I'll let you decide what you want to eat. Oh, and also while you're out pick up a movie or two. A comedy or romance something for inspiration, you'll want a relaxing evening before your big weekend project.
You will want to do this over the weekend, unless you have a lot of free-time during the week. If you have lots of free time during the week, then you can just work your plan over the week. But you will need a babysitter, because must toddler's are not going to be very helpful when it comes to a redecorating project, not to mention it could be dangerous for them.
So after you've had your dinner, a movie, and cleaned up from dinner, and put your darling to bed. You need to get yourself rested and relaxed. Maybe start with a good bubble bath before bed.
Get a goodnight sleep, but before going to bed, or better a few days or so ahead of time, call in some of your friends to help you with your redecoration project. You'll have fun and get done faster. Plus if you are rushed for time and your spouse is unavailable to take your darling toddler to a sitter or just keep your darling occupied and out of harm's way, you may need a friend who can take your child to her favorite sitter.
*It is dangerous to start moving furniture with a small child underfoot, as you or someone else could accidently trip and the child be in the wrong place at the wrong time, ending up hurt.
So be safe and not sorry, have someone designated to watch your child, either at your home or at a sitter's home. Maybe a week's visit with a favorite grandparent or other relative would be wise.
The morning of your project make sure to eat a good breakfast, and have a few snacks, or sandwiches and drinks on hand for your "helpers". Paper plates, paper towels and disposable cups will save you a lot of work later. It will also insure that your "helpers" don't starve while helping you redo your precious little one's room.
Ok, to make sure everyone is on the same page, go over your plan with your"helpers". I mean seriously you don't want to have everyone working to their own separate and individual plan that may each, be entirely different from what you were planning.
Have a list ready for everyone and pass it out, things will go a lot easier. Make sure you double check everyone's progress as you do. This will make it easier and your work will go faster.
You will want to allow time for any paint to dry, so the first thing that should be done after the room is emptied and cleaned is any painting, or wall preparations for painting.
It may be easier to do any stenciling or painting of furniture outside.
If you or someone else will be making pillows or curtains or bed-coverings this can be done before your project starts or after the major overhaul of the room is done.
The major overhaul will be any painting, wallpapering, molding changes, outlet cover changes, any shelves that are mounted on the walls, or in closets, carpet replacing, furniture moving, etc.
Do remember to break for lunch, you may need to set an alarm clock just in case you get busy and forget. You don't want your helpers to get hungry and leave town just when you need them to help you move that really heavy wardrobe you found on the outside of town, that goes perfectly with your darling daughters room, that is built to last, and is something you are already considering a treasured heirloom.
