How to Embrace the Fact that Image and Succes Go Together

Clothing is an element that helps us improve our appearance. It is also one of the most recognized grooming aspects in society.

Studies on the perception of personal appearance indicate that when someone sees us, they see the clothes we wear first, then the physical features, the face, the hair and finally the hands. But the outfit we wear is not just a decorative element, it identifies who we are.

In fact, the way we dress and style our hair says a lot about us. In this sense, the clothing that we use will determine to some extent, the type of person people will think we are.

When we walk down the street and see someone who dresses similarly to us, we generally feel sympathy for that person. We believe that if that person prefers the same style of clothes as we do, then this person must also share the same values and life standards we possess.

In fact, as superficial as it may sound we tag and are labeled according to the outfit we wear. So it's appropriate to try to tune the way we dress to the way we behave, as the external appearance we have will ultimately attract people with similar tastes to our lives.

Achieving the ideal image isn't as simple as it sounds. Our clothing reflects how we would like others to see us. This means that when we decide to use certain clothes, they fit the image of our ideal self, i.e. the image that we want to show to others.

In this sense psychologists say that the reason why we manipulate our appearance is because we want to showcase our self representation, in other words the changes we make in our appearance reflect the perception we have of ourselves and above all, what we want to convey to others about ourselves.

Physical appearance is also an important area to focus on and the following are indications of how to care for your physical appearance:

It's important not to abandon the physical aspect. A dowdy person is not appealing to anyone. The first thing people notice in us is our appearance and they associate it with the emotional state we are in and the image they see gives people an idea of how we might see ourselves.

Some people move their internal mood into their external appearance. Even if you feel depressed inside you do not have to scream to the four winds when your appearance is already saying everything. In fact caring for the external image has therapeutic effects. Studies show that depressed people feel better if manage and improve their external appearance.

It is okay to be fashionable, as long as it suits us and as long as we agree with the message it conveys. Remember that clothing is not just an ornament, it is a sign and information with which we express to others how we see ourselves and the kind of people you we want to attract and let enter into our lives.

There must be consistency between our social aspirations and our appearance. This will most likely increase our chances of getting in contact with people that share our value system.

There are people who want to improve their appearance, but don't have a clear idea of how to do it. Some psychologists that specialize in interpersonal relations prompt people to consult professionals in aesthetics for advice. But often, a proper haircut or casual attire is enough to make a difference.
