1. Determine when ovulation occurs
One of the first and most important things to determine is when a woman ovulates. The reason for this is because during ovulation is when a woman is able to conceive. There are a couple of ways to determine ovulation. The easiest is to use an ovulation kit. The kit determines when a higher amount of the Lutenizing Hormone is in the body. The other method is to chart the basal temperature. Daily, the woman takes her basal temperature. Take the basal temperature at the same approximate time before the woman gets out of bed. Using this method, the time to have sex is after the basal temperature drops, but just before it begins to rise again.
2. Do what comes naturally
The couple should have sex every day prior to ovulation. This increases the chances of conceiving. Be aware that every time a man ejaculates that it amount of sperm he produces decreases. So make it count!
3. Don't get up immediately after sex
It is important that the woman not move around once the sexual act is complete. The woman should not get up or move around for a minimum of 15 minutes. This allows the sperm to have a better chance of reaching the cervix.
4. Place a pillow under the rear end
This allows the pelvis to angle downward. This aids in the sperm reaching its final destination, which is the cervix and the soon to be fertilized egg.
5. Eliminate smoking
Many fertility specialists believe that if a woman smokes, it tends to thin the mucus in the cervix. This deters the egg from implanting and keeps the couple from becoming pregnant.
6. Refrain from male masturbation prior to sex
Male masturbation paired with ejaculation reduces the number of sperm produced by the male. The fewer sperm that are contained in the ejaculate, the lower the chances are of the couple becoming pregnant.
7. Refrain from oral or anal sex prior to sex
Some doctors think that bacteria from the mouth and bacteria from the anus can hinder conception. These bacteria can damage the sperm and keep the couple from becoming pregnant.
8. Reduce alcohol intake
There is a belief that the intake of alcohol in both the male and female involved in conception can cause reduction in sperm count as well as to thin out the mucus that aids in the implantation of the egg in the uterus.
9. Don't make it a chore
Though a couple trying to conceive goes into it with the end result of a baby in mind, the process of conception should still be enjoyable. The couple should focus on the fact that they love each other enough to want to create life.
10. Don't douche after having sex
Many women as a part of habit tend to douche to clean up following sex. This is not a good idea. It can do exactly what one does not need by washing healthy sperm, needed for conception out of the vagina and keep the couple from conceiving.
By following these tips and provided that there are no fertility issues with either party, the conceiving couple should be expecting a bundle of joy in no time.
